"Gent's" knives

I think you have to decide on high tech or low tech.
Low tech = slip joints. Multi Blades are very, very nice and you can get really nice multiblade handles for relatively low prices. Check out the Case Website for the most info, Boker and Remington are also good choices, and Bulldog, and Kissing Crane, and a few others. Heck, just check ebay.

I have several "gentlemen's knives". The fanciest, the one I wear to weddings, is a Benchmade 850.

It looks delicate, but it doesn't act delicate. The 850 is actually quite tough and an excellent cutter.

For slightly less format occasions I like to carry an A.G. Russell One Hand Knife.

This is a clever design with elegant lines.

When I want a small knife in more casual situations I go for the Kershaw Rainbow Chive.

It is small, lightweight, pretty, and has a high coolness factor. :)

Two other great budget gents knives are the G. Sakai Clutchlock and the A.G. Russell carbon fiber lockback. Both of these knives can be had for $55 or so.

Another vote for the Chris Reeve Mnandi. I have or have owned and used the vast majority of gent's knives mentioned so far in this thread. I like them all, else I wouldn't have acquired them. But only one clearly stands out as the best gent's knife in my view and it's the Mnandi. Although this knife is about $100 more than the high side of your stated budget range, there is a good chance it may save you some money in the long run since you will have a very hard time convincing yourself you need a different gent's knife.

I'll second the anything from William Henry suggestion. I've got a 3 inch Wharncliff blade Evolution and it's an amazing knife for the price. Fit and finish is flawless. The VG-10 blade came hair popping sharp.

New Graham just added the LE Benchmite for the money it's hard to beat - 154cm and Titanium.

I bought mine for more money the day before they added it ot their web page :grumpy:

I'm also quite fond of the following
  • Benchmade 773 Black Aluminum with BC coating
  • Benchmade 705 clipless
  • GT Mini auto (carrying it today)
  • SAK Electrician

Have fun!

For formal occasions, I'm liking my Spyderco KIWI.

Small, but the Wharncliffe blade is exceptional.

I've been looking at the Willian Henry knives with a certain amount of lust. Well I have been wondering about their button lock and the Monarch model to be precise. Does anyone have any experience with either the button lock or the Monarch?

Easyrider, I strongly recommend the Monarch or any WH buttonlock. Even though I have considered selling mine, there is no doubt in my mind that these are excellent pocket knives. I espescially love carbon fiber because it is so durable in the pocket.;)
