geometry issue with new custom knife

Moderator, If this thread should be moved to TGBU please do so, thanks....

A very very late update to this thread, I have been offline for a long time b/c my home computer died.

Here's what happened since then..... I thought all would be resolved but now I am out $160 and no knife. The maker is Oleg Krymlin of NY, I have bought other blades and Mule handle scales from him in the past. He said he would re-grind the knife, so I mailed it back to him. After a few weeks, he says it is ready but wants me to release the PayPal funds which had been frozen. So I did so, since then he never sent the knife and does not reply to any of my messages or emails. I called eBay and they said because I released the funds to him I am SOL and can't do anything about it. So be warned, do not buy anything from this person as he is not trustworthy. He still has other items actively listed for sale both on his web site and on eBay, so I know for sure he is not sick or injured or anything like that.

A several of years ago this same maker was selling what was supposed to be Damascus blades and billets made by a smith in Russia. Does the term "bullat" fit? In any case he stated that these blades were of a high quality with this and that characteristics. They had already been heat treated as well. In short, I received the blade, found it was utterly junk, sent it back at his request, was give a post office mix up etc. and was never given a refund. After that he seemed to try to hide and removed his name from the site he was using. I believe you can chase him but there will never be a money refund from him.
I was upset to hear someone else has been caught by this thief.

Ha, I have one of those bulat blades I bought from him probably around the same time you did, I have not tried to do anything with it. What was your experience with it, was it not sufficiently hard? I think I read somewhere that the old bulat blades were good for its time but does not compare to modern steels in hardness.
