Elephant ivory handle. Sheath and cartridge carrier are trimmed with elephant hide.

SUPERB

that is an absolutely beautifully clean piece.

P.S. (I wish the picture was just a little less cluttered so we could really drool over that knife.)

Thanks, but I really don't want any drool on my knife. :D

I see what I can do.

Great picture and one of my all time favorite makers...:thumbup:

Thanks for sharing.

That is a beautiful knife! I really like the design, and the execution is excellent!

oh my yes,

that is a fantastic picture of a beautiful knife.

Thanks Stephan. I couldn't resist putting the sheath and bracelet in the photo. I made the sheath out of elephant hide that I purchased from a Western boot maker back in the 80s and the elephant hair bracelet came from a 1953 safari.

Exquisite!
But what did you expect from the man who taught Bob Loveless how to make knives?
I love your first photo. Is that a 300 Weatherby mag?
Adam.

Classic and classy - a truly beautiful piece. With lines so crisp and lovely, this knife doesn't need a single thing else beyond what's already there.

In comparison to Loveless, and based solely on my surface knowledge, Herron is far under appreciated and remains mostly offstage for his design contributions.

BTW, I like the first posted pic better :)

Beautiful. I also collect knives of that style from that era. You might point out features, sadly missing from most current fabrication, which make it so desireable. Such as tapered tang and sculpted finger guard soldered to the blade.

Yes, tapered tang for perfect balance, the guard slightly curves around your finger, and the soldering job looks like something you would find on a Swiss watch.

Knifemaker or artist - I'm not sure.
