I have this beautiful pearl interframe folder made by George Herron.
I am reaching out to you Herron experts in this forum to see if anyone can give some indication of a time span when it is made?
There is unfortunately no serial number stamped on the blade. :-(
I am soooooo embarrassed now! I now remember in fact that I looked in the well about a year ago and yes in fact, there is serial number 54....
Thanks for reminding me for the obvious to check again. Thanks!
Maybe someone out there now can help me figure out an approximate year when this was made by Herron since we now know the serial number is 54.
Does someone know also if Herron numbered his folders in the same series for all models or did he keep different numbering series for different models?
Hey. I’m a little late to this party, but since I don’t see any replies I’ll share what I know.
These “Gent’s” folders were made in his Springfield, SC shop. He moved there in 1986 from Aiken, SC.
After his move, he started the serial numbers over and began to use a separate set per model. In theory, this means you have the 54th gent’s folder he made in the Springfield shop. I would guess that puts it somewhere in the early 90s.
I too cannot help with the timeline, but I am so please to see other Herron fans on BF.
I was lucky enough to meet George several times in the mid '80's at the NY Knife Show when it was still held at the Roosevelt Hotel. Since then I have acquired a small collection of his knives. His grinding is beautiful. Thanks for sharing yours........
I hope you don't mind me posting one or two of mine.......
