George Washington and his penknife

Does anyone know if this was the inspiration behind the GEC 77 Washington Jack? I see similarities.

As the contractor for the #77 Washington Jack, I can tell you that the Washington Jack was inspired by Washington St. in Sheffield, where the unique bolster was invented, and has nothing to do with our esteemed past president (except his name which also came from England)!!

Thank you for the insight. I was just looking at the 77 WJ (magnificent!) on the GEC website yesterday after I read this article and got to wondering.
