I recently saw a carving set with box--Gerber handmade, metal handle on knife. Handle read "1947 Balmung". Included box, carving fork and carving knife.

Anyone know how much it is worth? It was selling for $50

If it is in good condition, it is certainly worth $50 as a using set. What is included? Knife, fork and steel or just knife and fork?
The one thing you have to watch out for on used kitchen knives, is whether a previuos owner butchered the blade on one of those can opener knife sharpeners. High speed and poor technique can cause overheating which will ruin the blade temper.
