I bought this knife a few years ago when an airline misplaced my luggage for a few days and since I feel naked without a blade I just needed a cheap blade until my luggage was delivered. Well pretty much once my luggage with my knives arrived it was thrown in my suitcase only to be put away when I got home.
Well I recently came across it, and started messing with it and like any typical Chinese Gerber it sucked in its current configuration. So I decided to change it up a lil, after all if I screwed it up I was only out $22. I began with slightly changing the the blade shape a lil then reprofiled it to a 22.5° convex. This this is a whole new knife now. It actually performs quite well, I thought for sure it was gonna break in half batoning a seasoned pine log full of knots, but it tore right thru it. There wasn't even any edge damage at all. The blade got hot to the touch thou during batoning, was really weird as my other knives haven't done that. I noticed it when I went to inspect the edge when I was done batoning.
This is actually a sweet lil beater knife for the price, once you fix it up some.
