Gerber busted...surprise surprise!!

Wasted way too much time and money on Gerber. Kinda perturbs me that they have so many obvious issues and the company keeps advertising their crap like nothing's the matter. It's pretty much public knowledge now that a vast majority of their current production completely sucks, and yet we see no change from them. Apparently they're entirely happy with producing a sub-par product and swindling people into purchasing an inferior 'made in America' product. Gerber, calling you out... shape up or ship out.

I disagree. They tend to turn out awesome designs, but the materials they use (blade steel for the most part) are so damn shoddy, they mirror Ben Franklin's popular quote exactly...

I don't know what your talking about. Generally Gerber uses shoddy steel, but not on the Covert. Its 154CM, and must have a good heat forge, cause mine stays sharp forever. They must use different steel with the ones made in the states.

I have been buying Gerbers for years and agree that there has been a downward spiral in their workmanship and quality control. The LMF I purchased, needed a sharpening, out of the box. I had to razor cut the bottom retaining strap off the sheath because I couldn't get it to secure the knife! These kinds of problems are disgraceful. The last 3 Gerbers, I have purchased, had to be sharpened before I could use them. As far as I'm concerned, a dull knife, out of the box, is a defective knife! This is why I've stopped buying Gerbers!

Gerbers are OK knives, but not if it is going to be your only knife. Do yourself a favor and get a Cold Steel Voyager. It's the best folder made....period! It will out last you, and maybe your grandkids.

Semper Fi!

What? If I didn't know better, I would swear that you were Lynn Thompson.
