Welcome to the forum, Byo: The coating will provide protection in marine-type conditions, but it will scratch evenually. It also limits "blade flash" in tactical-military type situations. IMHO you're better off with the bead blast finish in average operating conditions.
i live in a harbour city (wellington) so i think the bead blast finish will be a pain, i saw a few bead blast knives in store that already had a few rust on them...
also i want to know that if i use the titanium coating carefully (like cutting fruit, papers.....soft work
As even similar coating types vary in quality depending on who did them and how careful they were, dont take this as gospel. My experience with the black titanium carbonitride coating Microtech uses is that its THE most durable blade coating out there. It may "appear" scratched because it is so hard however, due to residue or the material being cut drawing the oil off the surface of the coating. Oh yeah, and bead blast (with few exceptions) sucks.
