has anyone with a gerber/fiskars hatchet experienced any problems such as the head flying off?

I've never had a head fly off. I did manage break one after YEARS of throwing it, which it isn't designed for. It snapped about two inches below the head.

I still carry them.

the Fiskars/Gerber line might have some issues in the cold over high-stress, according to some SERE buddies of mine, but i love mine.

anything will fail if you torture it enough.

I have a friend up in Saskatchewan who uses several Fiskars and never had any issues with the cold, but I could see how it could happen for sure. He likes the plastic better than the wood but its just a preferance.

thanks for the responses! i have had one for a year and haven't had any problems with it a love it!
