Gerber Folding Axe!

You know, and I swear this is going to happen....trust me. Some idiot..Opps! ( sorry, some individual) is going show up on utube spinning this thing around opening and closing it, deploying it into a variety of fighting position that he will call "Systems". God help us one and all.

On the serious side if you got to do a lot of jumping out of airplanes this might be fine.

Sadly, you're unquestionably right. Somebody will have a video in which they are flipping it around like a bali or one of those Cold Steel Triple Action folders. Probably also a kydex, quick draw, underarm harness/holster setup for $200. Maybe even some titanium replacement parts for the guys who want to upgrade! How about a spring kit for auto opening?

Probably jumping out of the aircraft just to get away from the axe!

How about the folding nail to go with that folding hammer?:D

DancesWithKnives

Yes, in both this thread and another I mentioned that. In the other Axe Forum thread, I believe I advised bringing popcorn and a few beers!:D The guys in WSS hammered it pretty hard.

Now that I think back about it, I believe I was the one who suggested to him that he post the question in WSS.

I was thinking the same thing, Dwight. I suspect it would sound something like this. Flip, flip, flip, SNAP! OWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOOOO!!!

You have to get the lightweight titanium replacement components before the optional spring kit will work!

Could be!

I used to have a roommate who was pursuing a masters program at UCLA in prosthetics. She would bring home the practice limbs/hands/etc. that they built. I had some great pranking fun with those!:D One of my favorites was to have a really realistic looking forearm and hand sticking out from under the hood of my truck. It would fool people for a second or two (at best) but the reactions were very entertaining to watch.

Maybe Gerber should offer some optional insurance coverage with the folding axe?

This brings to mind the Marble's safety axe...from oh...maybe late 1800....it is a better axe and a safer one to carry than this. I would be interested in using one for an afternoon (with safety gear) to see how well it performs.

I think one of the guys in W&SS is set to receive one, but I don't know whether Gerber has started shipping them yet. I think the special, numbered, collector's First Production Run version goes only to members of the Ninjas Unlimited Treechoppers (NUTs). [And that's just a little humor:D----I'm not insulting anyone who wants to buy one and test it. I'll read the results with interest.]

Gerber put out a notice today they were cancelling the Kick Axe because of safety concerns. Given there is an article about the hatchet in the July issue, I bet the people at Tactical Knives aren't very happy right now.

Where is this notice? I just checked their website and they still have a ETA date.

Well I think the ad picture for the folding axe should have been pulled for safety concerns:D
*edit* it was the plastic handled pictured in the "fail" chop picture:)
