Gerber Folding Sportsman Blade Wiggle

As much as I am disappointed by most current Gerber products, I am a fan of their earlier knives from the '70's and early 80's. I recently bought a Folding Sportsman with stag scales, indending to work it into my edc rotation. However, when locked open there is a slight up and down wiggle in the blade. It is not enough to effect anything in a practical manner, but it still bothers me.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this fixed? Ship it back to Gerber to see if they wil correct it, for free or pay?

Thanks

Gerber won't repair it. They no longer make it so its likely they offer something similar to other companies and offer a $ value current model but even that is iffy without a receipt from when bought new. The Gerber Sportsman knives are on the auction site all the time and available cheap. I have many of each model all bought there and find no problem snagging them in buy it nows if you look and for good prices. I'm a fan of those models and the PK knives myself. I suggest you just keep that one as a parts knife and find one like it on a buy it now for a good price from a trustworthy seller and maybe it will lock up solid as you like or hope.

It's not enough of a wobble to effect performance; most probably wouldn't notice it. I like the stag scales, and would have paid 'em to make the lock up perfect.

I think the old folding sportsman knives are some of the best deals on ebay now; a good, solid knife with an honest 440C blade.
