Certainly would be self defense, but:

She wasn't carrying a knife for self defense, and again it is a story that "somwhere a while back ,somebody defended themselves with a knife" which I am not doubting, just saying it probably is not going to be my priority when choosing a knife to EDC.

Not sure where you live that people are getting stabbed all the time. Stabbings happen fairly often in the city near me, but as an offensive occurence between crack-heads.

You never hear of an average Joe repelling an attack with their knife out on the street.

in my neck of the woods (austin TX) its the crackheads out to rob ya ya gotta watch out for, and yes folks getting stabbed is not some once a yr occurence.

i'm not gonna go back and forth with ya on this, suffice to say folks have been defending themselves with knives for probably the last 3000 years and will be for the next 3000 yrs.

i have used a knife myself as a deterrent but i aint posting about it on the 'net,

and sure they arent the numero uno thing to have for that, give me a 12 gauge any day, or a .45, but they beat going hand to hand i promise ya, training or not.
