What is the best surival/hunting/tactical knife on the market? How does the Gerber LMF II measure up?

I would want to know how easy the Gerber knife is to sharpen. Most people want a survival knife to be one that can be easily sharpened in the field using a rock. Knives with 1095 blades like the Kabar meet that criteria. Don't know how the Sandvik stainless used in the Gerber knife compares.

Don't wanna discourage you, but the first part of your question is impossible to answer. There are many fine makers of very tough and reliable knives in many styles and price ranges.
