Gerber lst broke, what's similar style alternative?

New forum to me and I have been looking for new knife options and glad I found this place. I love carrying the Gerber lst as my pocket knife. It is small enough to stay in my pocket and the blade is heavier than most pocket knifes so it has earned it's place through many chores. My dad is much rougher on knives than me and frequently uses it for scraping a metal surface clean on old equipment when trying to fix something etc. He finally wore the rivet loose on his Gerber lst after years of use. I was going to buy another lst for him but have always wanted a similar style knife that has two blades so he can have one that stays sharp. Whenever I look for that size locking folder with two blades I always see much thinner blades than the Gerber lst. What is out there that is like a two bladed lst?
Thanks for your help

Here are the specs on the Gerber lst that I forgot to link.

My dad's had an LST for two decades now and loves it. I quite like the little knife too.

I don't think what you're looking for exists to be honest. There's only a handful of knives with two locking blades probably and they're all either wildly expensive or garbage.

Do they really need to lock? There's a ton of options if not.

I haven't seen too many 2 blade locking folders and of the ones that exist I can believe the blades would be thinner. For what the LST sells for, why not just get 2 of those. You were able to get years of use so you already know what you have.

Consider a Victorinox Evo Grip.

The main blade locks, but the smaller blade and tools do not. He can use the tools for other tasks as well as the smaller blade and leave the primary blade strictly for cutting tasks.

Perhaps something like this?

Boker double lock trapper.

Duel locking blades, price and quality on par with an lst.
A little bit classier looking.

Please do not direct sales to a source which is not a paid Bladeforums dealer. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1089879-Paid-Dealer-Members-List-(Updated-12-20-15)

Auction / Deal / Bargain Spotting
This is a variation of the "no spam" rules that we have. We know you found a great deal on a Ninja Death Tool 3000 - we don't care. If that dealer wants to advertise on BladeForums.com, encourage them to purchase a Dealer membership here instead of giving them free advertising.

(Of course, eBay isn't going to buy a Dealership here, neither is Amazon or other general sales points not appropriate for advertising.)

Still figuring out taptalk and the rules here. Sorry about linking to amazon for a picture of the Gerber lst. Here is the manufacturer link in case some are unfamiliar. What else would you reccomend that is similar because if I get him to carry two knives I might as well try something new for the second knife??

Thank s for the idea to go non locker but when used not as intended i like the lock.

So one Gerber lst and one what that is as strong?

That two bladed boker was cheap enough to try also. Thanks for that idea.

Another similar (1 blade) knife that is an excellent "cheap" knife worth trying over an lst, similar in size and weight, is a kabar mini dozier or full sized dozier.

Thanks I will check these out. It looks like the Gerber lst is in-between the mini Dozier and regular Dozier in terms of size. I don't like clips so I want it to be comfortable in my pocket and am hoping the full size Dozier will work for that. Thanks for the suggestion.
