Gerber Lst

VJB,
Your Gerber collection is top-notch, but I REALLY like the box!
1.What is it called?
2.Where did you get it?
3.How much does it cost?
4.Is that a glass/plexi lid (see thru)?
5. Can I have half your collection of Gerbers?
...
Well, forget #5, I was being covetous, let me re-state it:

5. Can I have one-fourth of your Gerber collection?

Answers here please:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Think about it...
5.
Keep thinking...
5.

OK, Thanks,
JMH

I may have confused seeing them out-of-stock and misinterpreting that as discontinued. Or perhaps an online vendor discontinued selling them and hear again I ass-u-me-d, well really only me, that they were no longer made.
Bubbz

Well, I'm sorta glad you did. It motivated me to order two more this weekend just in case.;)

I was in this small town of Los Olivos, CA last week
I saw an older hardware store
After hearing all of the stories about old hardware stores with backrooms packed with old Walden Schrades and pre-1986 Buck knives
I decided to go in and check it out

Most of the knives in the case were Frost Cutlery and some Bear Mfg CO. :thumbdn:
They had a few Case XX's that were maybe 3 years old
A yellow trapper for like 35 bucks
They had a few of the small Bucklites
They had the LST 400 for 12.99
I bought one because I had one in the early 90's and I lost it
So now I got a NIB LST 400
I never knew they made clip point ones

And yeah
I will still stop in that mom and pop hardware store and look!!
It's like all the old ladies at the casinos STILL waiting to hit that royal flush on the video poker games
I got my eyes on the hardware store prize
Someday................

Answers here please:
1. It's a display case for knives or whatever
2. I got it from a knife wholesaler that I deal with
3. This 12 x 18 x 2 case is about $35
4. Glass lid
5. Sorry no
Think about it...
5. We could probably work something out

Keep thinking...

Here some other parts of my Gerber collection.

A friend of mine just bought a new LST from Smoky Mountain Knifeworks a few weeks ago, 17.99. It seems to be a solid well made knife. No slop in the lock, no side play in the blade pivot. Only difference I can see is that "Gerber, Portland Or". is etched on the blade tang instead of stamped. Customer service at Gerber says its still made in U.S.A.

Back up just because I like the LST.

Glad to see it back up, jvan. The LST has been my EDC for one year now. I had low expectations when I bought it. I've been very pleasantly surprised. My high dollar knives don't leave the house much anymore. The lockup, by the way, is exactly the same as the day I bought it: no blade play whatsoever in any direction. I recently bought two more as backups, knowing that whenever I find a product I really like, it's usually discontinued shortly thereafter!

Good to hear it is back.

I might do another online order of somes soon - what steel are the new ones?

My LST Micros are my EDC -does 99% of what I need, does not bulk out a suit trouser pocket, and not confronting in a land of non EDC. Just need to remeber to search my pockets and briefcase before flying

Yeah I see the LST 2 is available for $29 up here in Canada with that pocket clip. I think
I will go get one and mount it for left side carry. Great thread to what looks like a great
knife.

I own many Gerber knives since the 80s but bought my first LST just this week. I never really paid attention to them all these years. I was missing out on a great knife! I think they are really under-appreciated and wish they'd make different versions (G10 handles, better steel, colored micarta etc.)

I've carried my LST for over a week and I am very satisfied with it. Still made in the USA, this knife is a real bargain and can hold its own.

fwiw, If you like the LST, check out a Bucklite 422. Trust me.
