Hi people, I purchased a gerber Mark II black blade around a year back, Im curious to find out the history behind this knife, why it was produced, who used it and so on.
Any info you guys have would be appreciated.
I unfortunately don't know much about the Mark II. I bet you could ask not2sharp over in the Bernard Levine forum and get a lot of info.
Also a search of the archives may also work good for ya.
That knife was a popular private purchase during the Vietnam War. There was even a rare yellow handled version made up for trial with the Navy SEALS as a diver's knife. Anything else I say would be a mix of fact and fiction, so I'll leave you to the experts from here.
