gerber or buck

for multitools, gerber. otherwise, buck. most of gerber is chinese made nowadays (buck is as well), but at least buck clearly states which are foreign made and which are domestic.

Actually, most of Buck's products are made in the USA.

Having owned, used, and abused both Gerbers and Bucks... I can say without a doubt that I prefer Bucks.

Go for the Buck~ Can not be wrong!

Gerber's quality gets worse and worse as all their knives are now made in China.

No, I don;t think so. The Gerber Freeman Caper, at least, is Made in the USA. That's what it says on the blade near scales.... I've handled it....and it is one very nicely made fixed blade.

True. There are many Gerbers made in the US. Emerson Allliance auto knife, LMF2, Prodigy, Silver Trident, Yari, Guardian Backup, Freeman Caper, 06 Auto, EZ-Out etc....

Many of their knives are in S30V and 154cm steel. Their mid to high end knives range from decent to excellent. Most of the problems I hear of are from their low end cheap knives. It's unfortunate that many people judge them solely from their cheap knives

The folder is also pretty nice too. Heavy, but rock solid. I was tempted to pick one of the Cabelas models one up with the good blade steel.

I would have to say Buck because All their good knives are made in the usa and there china ones are still good

gotta say buck, great value for the dollar spent, U.S. made with some imports. I used to really like gerber and in the 70's they made some great knives but now they've just kind of gone downhill. kind of sad really.
