Anyone ever use or own a Gerber Prodigy?
Or the Becker BKT 2

they look like reasonably priced, but are they of respectable quality

I have the Gerber Prodigy. I like the knife, for the price is well made. I have purchased 3 of them and the quality is consistent. 12C27 Stainless has proven to be a good performer. The ergonomics are superior in my opinion to the big brother LMF II. Noss4 did a destruction test on the LMF which is similar to the Prodigy and the steel performs very well. I like the the serrations as they are shallow and can be used almost as a plain edge. If they did a plain edge probably would get one. The knife if full tang all the way to the rear (some knives are full tang but stop in the last inch or less). I put a magnet on the handle and received a strong attraction, I was testing the "full tangness" of several that I own and the pull was considerable, meaning that the plastic/rubber portion does not constitute a huge part of the handle so there's a lot of "meat" underneath.

I'm not a fan of Gerber but I think they hit a Home Run with this one. You can get them for about $40. The factory edge is thick but it is sharp.

Here is the Noss test to destruction of the very similar LMF II.

I don't own a BKT but the quality for the price is well known and well respected with this brand. Can't go wrong with either one.

Also it depends what would be the purpose of the knife. Lte me know if you have another question.
