hey guys i stopped in at a local knife shop and saw a Gerber Prodigy it looks almost like the LMF II but its smaller and doesn't have lanyard holes. the blade is full tang too which is a plus. do any of you guys have any experience with it? should i got for it as a moderate to cheap next buy knife? would it serve well for bush craft and survival purposes?

Thanks for the help

Well, it's not bad for the price and Sandvik 12c27 is a great steel if HT decent. Those serrations are a nuisance though. That alone would make me pass on it. Otherwise it looks like a nice knife.

yeah Marcelo Cantu serrations are always a turn off for me, like the ones on the Gerber LMF II make me stay away from it,.

thanks for addressing the steel as well

I bought one for my 11 son for christmas. He loves to go to the "outback" of our property and whittle (ie: chop, hack, scrape, dig and otherwise beat the crap outta a knife) So far I've been very impressed with how it's held up. I'm not a fan of serations but, we've found that holding them 90 degrees to a branch and scraping we can produce some very fine tinder curls.
Not my first choice for a bushcraft knife, but definetly Beast Boy Tuff..
