Gerber Profile knife?

i can comment on the fixed blade...
not a bad knife especially for the $20 dollars we paid for it.
PROs:
Nice size
rather thick blade
comfy scales (my son likes it)
holds an edge okay, nothing special but functional
Cons:
sheath is garbage (i made a leather one for my sons profile)
scales (not my cup of tea, been trying to convince my son to put some bloodwood on it!)

all things considered not bad for $20 bucks
i think they are functional

I had the fixed blade version. It did its job well for a $20 knife. To be perfectly honest after using the Profile, I'd rather spend the money on two Moras.

and what is it soposed to do and by that i mean do u edc it or what do u mainly use it for

It cuts and the lock doesn't fail. :D

I use it around the house a lot, since I don't carry on a belt. It cuts boxes, cords and just common everyday cutting tasks.

Nothing to wild, just one of those "reach for" knives that is lying around.

 I have the fixed blade model. Nothing spectacular, but well worth the money. Wouldn't it be nice if they came up with a longer beefier model.

I suprised myself by buying one a couple months ago as a beater to keep in my tool box. I further surprised myself by finding out that I really like the knife ! :)

Yea the blade steel is nothing to wrote home about but it has passed muster thus far , the handle is comfortable too , I sharpened the swedge to boot.

Honestly for $20 why would anyone complain about the sheath ? Everyone seems to damn that sheath but IMO it fits well and works for what it is and like I said... it's a $20 knife.

As far as the Mora reference earlier , Mora's -as good as they are- are not readily available to most people. There is not a store in a 300 miles radius that sells or have even heard of a Mora , cant say the same about Wallymarts Profile. :)

Most Wal-Marts around here are currently putting the Profile fixed blade on clearance for $15.00.

I STILL haven't broken the tip on the one I had. (Even slammed it down into a 2x4..snapped it to the side sharply, didn't even bend. Bah. I couldn't get an edge on it at all though, & any other knife I've ever had (even super-cheap-o's) I could easily get shaving-sharp. It was considerably good for throwing (though, THAT is what broke mine. Snapped the blade clean in half. The grains were small, btw.) Overall, it's a good-enough knife. One I'd get to use when I'd not use anything high-end or more expensive.
