Gerber Silver Trident

every Tom, Dick and Harry could have an interesting double meaning ;) I dont think you meant it like that but those last 2 names are well known if ya think about it.....

Hadn't thought of that...

But it's an interesting point, yes:confused:

You wonder why there aren't any Force Recon or ParaRescue knives being pushed / exploited...

Personally, the Ranger Regimental combat/fighting knives made by Batson are both low profile and excellent real world military designs and they've been available for some time now. He only makes them for the rangers and he was blessed by the Ranger Regimental Association as their official knifemaker:D

I covered both he and his blades in Soldier of Fortune some years back when I was doing the Battle Blades column. I have mine here with me. It is way kool and way good as one's "silent partner"

But you don't hear about him, his knives, or his clients;)

And he hasn't sold the design to "joe commercial cutlery outlet":barf:

Tom...Dick...Harry...that was good:p

Merry Christmas!

PS: A good friend of mine and Coalition SOF brother now carries the Combat Raven maker Rob Simonich sent me to evaluate (See PracTac Eval). A good knife for a good man:) And a GREAT Christmas present to give!!! Thanks to Rob S., who made it possible and knows who I'm talking about ;)

I tend to avoid things that say "SEAL" or "Green Beret" simply because I have neither of those qualifications.

I'm very happy with the fact that the Yarborough is offered in a "civilian" model.

Greg, what a great thing to do with the Raven! I am proud to know where it went. Hope your X-mas was well there Greg! :)

Rob

It was Christmas and was both fun and right thing to do:) He was quite (happily) surprised, as you might imagine. It will do great things in the future at his side:D

Anybody handled one of these yet? I concur with the general opinion expressed here that this "SEAL" knife is doomed from the get go largely due to it's price point, and misguided marketing.

Still, I'm curious about the knife - I've been hoping that Gerber would once again regain some standing in the tactical/combat fixed blade market, but this one leaves me less than optimistic...

It looks a lot like the Aitor Hammerhead, which is only around $120. I don't believe I'll be purchasing the Gerber knife.

I do like the ad though. One of my favorites I saw was a Boker ad that had a man tied up and a sexy, half-naked lady facing him with a whip. I don't remember it verbatim but it said something to the effect of: "There are many times when you need a knife . . . this is not one of them."
