Gerber's LMF II or, Cold Steels SRK?

I initially got the Recon Scout, but switch over to the RAT RC-5. Both are tanks, but the RC-5 has better ergos, no cross guard to work around and is even better looking to me.

I own AND use everything that has been mentioned in this thread, and then a whole lot more. The one knife, however, that rides my belt on a daily basis is an SRK. I prefer the weight, shape, sheath, ability to sharpen, and balance of this knife. All of the others are great too, but I can promise you that you won't even know it's on your side. Most of the others are definitely weightier than the SRK, which is my biggest consideration next to the style of sheath. And when it comes to that, this sheath, the 'Secure Ex' , combines the best of Kydex with a drop loop of nylon that gets it down on the belt and out of your ribcage. Again, I'm not taking anything away from the others, but, in this price range, along with the considerations we've just talked about, it's hard to beat.

a few months ago i was deciding between the srk and the lmf as well. i chose the lmf and i was disapointed. i have heard great things about that knife but i was unhappy with it. it was oversized for any thing i would use it for as a general purpose knife and i disliked the little bit of play my handle had. i ended up returning it and now im propably getting the srk. i would suggest finding and holding them both before deciding. it helpful in deciding every time

Another vote for the SRK. Between the 2 companies I think Cold Steel makes better products.

Update! I went with neither of the two i asked about almost 6 months ago, i went with the KA Bar line of BK-2! Great knife, strong tip, thick blade, great looks I know it's subjective. Only thing is I need to make my own sheath, something that rides higher, don't really like having the belt loop so flimsy all the time.

I have a Gerber lmf II and a Cold Steal SRK in San Mai, I'd take the cold steel every time even in the un san mai version. Which I have had in the past but gave to a good Mate cause he needed a good knife.
