Have you ever put off buying or simply forget about a model till it's too late?

I just rediscovered the 160 Smidgen, and now all I can find is the grey plastic sheaths for $7 on the Buck website.

I went looking on Ebay and didn't find a single listing , man I wish I had bought one when buck was making them.
Now when I do find one I'm sure it'll be a good deal more than the $20 they retailed for.

There's also the American flag 525 gent and the 302 solitaire, but those popped up on bucks web specials not too long ago.
Sadly I fear it's been too long for any Hope's of the Smidgen popping up on the web specials page :(
Oh well I'll just have to save search the 160 solitaire on Ebay and hope one pops up at a reasonable price .

yeah I missed that 525 American flag twice.

I know what you're saying.

never was caught onto the 160...missed it and didnt even notice it all at the same time.:)

Still missing a 305 clipper but I just scored a NOS '03 305 lancer off Ebay for $30, I'm happy with that price for a knife I'm going to use.

I've got a camillus example, but the condition isn't the best.
Maybe it's just me but I think the 305 lancer is the one Buck made slipjoint model that looks better than its camillus made counterpart.
The swedge on the camillus 305 just throws the looks of the blade off.

Seems I rarely get it right.

I see something I want I jump on it buy several. Then they seem to be available forever then go on clearance.

Or. I wait a second and they are all gone.

In general, if you like it don’t take any chances. Buy it!

1 time I hit it right was the Bass Pro smooth bone knives. I figured I could get them whenever, I heard about the merger with Cabelas and figured I better buy them. The next week they were discontinued and hard to find.

You could always re purpose a hacksaw blade instead.

Need a smidgen to trace a line on top of a hacksaw blade. I might try that.

I think the smidgen is about the same as a hacksaw blade.

Not quite as flimsy however, and if I were to put some thin scales on one I think it would be quite an awesome little knife.
I know many people might just paracord wrap it or something, but that's not my style.
I'm thinking walnut and brass pins, not just because I already have the material on hand.

I'd go for a thicker carbon steel reciprocating saw blade or piece of bandsaw blade.
Just something thicker than a hacksaw blade would be best.

Yes I know I could just do this to myself, but I like buck and want a Smidgen.

I keep one on my fishing vest. It's a just in case knife really. They are very small. A lanyard is necessary as an extension of the handle if you want any control. They are cute though and do work in a pinch.
