So, for the kabar krew, is there any timeframe limitation for the thread/post counts?

I'll have to look it up my threads here, but if we can count old stuff I just might be good to go already.

This subforum hasn't been here all that long. If it's in Ka-Bar, you're good.
Right now, you're showing 220 posts in Ka-Bar and 2200 overall.
If you have three good threads started in Ka-Bar and a pic of your Ka-Bar-made knife, you'll be golden.

Excellent, thank you sir.

I'll check my personal threads, and see what I come up with. If I don't already have three threads, that's easily fixed, as I have a few ideas kicking around in the old noggin.

Thanks again.

Seems like Loge has the edge for a low digit, git in at the bottom floor KREW number........

Well, I just checked, and I've got at least two solid threads, and one or two that are a bit maybe a bit more... Fluff. I'll start my other thread idea tomorrow I guess.

When does the krew numbering submissions officially start?

I'm angling for Sunday, when most of you will be hungover from your early St. Patrick's celebrations.

I've started 11 threads, have 240+ posts in Kabar, and have posted a few pics of some of my Kabars. I might break Spark's server if I tried to post all of them. At last count (which was a couple of months ago) I had pushing 460+ OLCUT/UNION Cutlery/KABAR blades including 75 1219C2/MK2 variations, 30+ Kabar BKTs plus a few Westerns made by Kabar in the late 20s when Western contracted out their first fixed blades. I was member number 403 of the "Fans of Kabar" group.

When I joined BF, I very briefly considered KabarKnifeKnut as my screen name, before what little common sense I have kicked in.

Wow! I'd be interested in just seeing how you store them.

Well then, I'll kindly step aside when the numbering happens, as your collection is incredibly impressive. I think I've got 5, maybe 6 kabars (including bkt). You clearly are the real deal. I'm impressed, I didn't actually know there were that many variations. And man, how DO you store them?

Wow! I'd be interested in just seeing how you store them.

The main users (4 125Xs, 2x1211s, 2xBK11, 2xBK9, BK15,16,17) are on my bathroom counter top, my desk or shelves in the office.
Another dozen+ are in vehicle/tractor gear bags (BK2, BK3, 1211 minimum) in each vehicle.
A few are in the shop on a desk or the work bench being de-rusted, rehandled or waiting for new pants to be made.
The rest are hanging from wall hooks or are in Rubbermaid latching tubs with moth balls and silicon gel bags out in the shop.

The shop is all metal, 24'x32' on a concrete slab, alarmed with doors locked when I'm not in it, inside a 6 ft high fence w/ 2 dogs.

I probably also have a dozen or so "guard rattlers" in/under sheds and barns. During the summer, it's kinda like playing Russian Roulet to walk into/through a couple of the buildings without at least a machete or very long stick/chopping hoe. I keep catching and killing them, but the damn things seem to multiple faster than I can exterminate them.

"guard rattlers"

I should not have read that last part this late at night. Gonna be some fun dreams. *shudder*

......I didn't actually know there were that many variations.......

Some of the variations are "duplicates", some are the multiple 1211s I have as users. As far the WW2 vintages, (NOT included in the 75 are the Camillus, PAL and Robeson-ShurEdge versions) there's::

1-Round peened tang with 3/8" pommel, blade marked (mark side / pile side) KABAR / Blank or KABAR / USN MK2 or KABAR USMC with either red spacers or black spacers (that's 6 versions)

2-Square peened tang w/ 3/8" pommel, black spacers, blade marked KABAR / USN MK2 or KABAR / USMC - 2 more versions

3-Square peened tang w/ 3/8" pommel, guard marked, black spacers, KA over BAR / USN over MK2 or KABAR / USMC-2 more versions

4-Pinned tang w/ 1/4" pommel, black spacers blade marked KABAR / USN MK2 or KABAR / USMC - 2 more versions

5-Pinned tang w/ 1/4"pommel, black spacers, guard marked, KA over BAR / USN over MK2 or KABAR / USMC-2 more versions

6-Pinned tang w/ 1/4"pommel, black spacers, guard marked, straight line KABAR / USN MK2 or KABAR / USMC-2 more versions

That's 16 variations I can think of off the top of my head.

Then you have 9 rivet leather sheaths, 7 staple leather sheaths, (maybe a 7 rivet too), 4 contract number NORD fiberglass sheaths.

I also have a couple of the "UDT versions w/ no grooves in the handle" that Mr. Frank Trzaska (military knife expert) and a few others have "debunked" as being post-WW2 left over parts rebuilds. However, I recently got an estate sale chromed no groove version along with a WW2 photo and Diver Certificate of the WW2 diver it supposedly belonged to. Haven't got around to making a thread about that one as I just recently finally got a new camera.

ETA: nutoknives probably beats me out in quality - I THINK he has all but 1 of the 30 or so Kabar Knife Collector Club annual offerings. That is, unless he has recently acquired that last one. And Gunsil has forgotten more about the OLCUTs, Union Cutlery and pre-Korean War Kabars than I'll ever learn.
