looks like the BM42 wont' be reaching internet dealers until november or so, see the benchmade forum for more info, doesn't that suck?

Still confused if this is all internet dealers, or only those who buy from distributers. Then the question extends to store fronts: if authorized, do they get them first, then the store fronts who buy from distributers? Either way i wait an undetermained time, I'm just interested in the process.

Any ideas why the BMST only answers the occassional post? Is it just a side job for someone in the office, or a direct customer relations thing? Again, just wondering.

Please don't forget that this knife was originally not even supposed to start shipping until this fall, November time-frame. So, just be happy that Benchmade has created a wonderful continuation of the Bali-Song line and that quality production balisongs at reasonable prices will shortly be available again. Also be happy that I live in Oregon and know many retail dealers.

(I get to pick mine up this weekend.)

I called Benchmade and they explained it like this: Retailers that sell to the general public would be getting the shipments first (storefront or direct mail). Wholesalers who sell to retailers would not get them until the end of the year. As long as you were a retailer buying direct from Benchmade there would be no delay other than waiting for production. It is the wholesalers who sell to the retailers that are going to have to wait for their shipments.

I contacted Northwest Cutlery today and they informed me that since they are an authorized dealer, they will be getting theirs on time. Whew! So if you ordered one online, check to see if they are an authorized dealer, if not, you may be waiting a while.

Anyone know where 1 Stop Knife Shop fits into the scheme of things? I placed my order with them, and if the wait is November, then I'm going to cancel and shop locally.

Hmmm, this makes me wonder because the email I received from Northwest Cutlery said the same thing. They said I was number 19 too. Did you order a plain edge or combo?

I contacted Jeff Loffer over at Cutlery Shoppe where I placed a multiple order, and he said: "I confirmed after the earlier e-mail that our #42's should be shipping this week or next."

I believe I was one of Jeff's earlier orders, so I'm feelin' pretty good about this.

DUN DUN DUUUNNNNN!
hmmm, lets look at our information again,,,

Ok, You received an email saying you were 19

I talked to a Girl there that said I was 19.

1. I may have heard another -teen sounding number and heard wrong,

2. There could be an error or something.

3. They didnt feel like looking up our file and decided 19 was a nice believable number

I could care less about my number, I JUST WANT MY KNIFE

Yeah, I don't really care what number I am either. They may have just been too lazy to look it up for us.

I am happy to hear that they told you they were expecting to get their first shipment by the end of the week. They said in the email that I sould be getting mine in the firt shipment, if not then theres not doubt I will get mine from the second. Kind of vague if you ask me. Again they may just have said that because they were too lazy to look up what number I REALLY was.

I check my credit card statement online everyday now to see if they have charged it. So far, nothing.

Hey, be sure to email me a review of the knife when you get it so I can post it on my site.

Thanks and keep flipping,
John

Here's my e-mail response from Northwest Cutlery.
"We have yet to receive our first shipment of these however I know Benchmade has started shipping them in very small numbers. We expect to receive our first shipments in the next week or two and will fill orders on a first in, first out basis."
