Brace yourself, JK Knives will start hammering steel sometime next Spring! jds1 surprised me with an anvil at the Michigan Gathering, so I'm going to start forging knives.

Im already putting money aside, seriiusky, just sold a knife and that can just stay in paypal so i dont spend it. Woo hoo, new jk knives!

have you hammered hot steel before or do you have someone local to learn the basics from?

This is Very exciting!

Are you sticking with O1, or are you going to try some other alloys?

Ive yet to own one of yours John. Money is tight or I would have already grabbed your new Kephart.

Forged knives have always been a favorite of mine so I look forward to seeing you hammer some out. ::thumbup:

What steel by the way?

I'm going to spend a few months teaching myself.

if you feel like a road trip, come on out - I have both coal and propane setups and could show you some of the basics.
my style of hammering isn't the same as everyone else's, but it works OK for me and I have a buddy with a lot more bladesmithing experience than me who would love an excuse to come out and hammer if he can get a day off work.

O1 is almost as forgiving to forge as 1084 - and we know you've got the HT down. :)

Wonderful news, I think it is great that you continue to experiment with new ways to make your blades.

That is pretty cool, sounds like a great new challenge for 2016. I can't wait to see them start rolling out. Any idea which design(s) you're going to work with first?
