Get the NMFSHLE or wait?

I love INFI and I love Busse as a company so the following is just an observation of facts followed by my opinion as a loyal customer and has no correlation to the handle thickness complaint I mentioned earlier.
After thinking this over some more, there is something else that bothers me on this offering:
"One of these things is not like the other":p

As quoted the best I can from the locked ganzaa sticky with a pic of each blade added by me next to the regular price part:

Price: Based on the fact that the NMFBMLE was $797.00 and the NMSFNOLE was $597.00 the NMFSHLE should be priced at $697.00. . . .

NMSFNOLE Regular Price: $597.00NMSFNOLE3.jpg
NMFSHLE Regular Price: $697.00NMFSH-2.jpg
NMFBMLE Regular Price: $797.00NMFBMLEGreen2.jpg

We are however, offering the NMFSHLE at the discounted price of $647.00 to those who are lucky enough to score one of these amazing blades!

This is a very apples to oranges price comparison, let me explain:
Yes, it should be $697... if the handles are the same.
Just in the past year the SARGE 7 LE went for $547 with linen tigerhide and a SARGE 7 SE (same blade without a number etched in it) with black paper is $427, that is $120 difference...
Go back further and you find you can subtract $50 to get the SAR 6 pricing comparison or add $50 to get the SAR 8 pricing comparison, all with the same results.
Machined black paper is the cheapest standard option on anything you could order in the past two years with handle options, including Rats.
Hand smoothed linen tigerhide on the other hand is a high dollar rarely seen yet awesome feeling handle material that came on both of the other Nuclear Meltdown LE offerings but not on this one?

As excited as I initially was about this offering being such a sweet looking satin blade, I will have to think very hard over the next two days about whether this offering is for me or not.
My gut tells me an SE or CG should be coming, but I don't want to be wrong and miss out either. :o

Tigerhide handles would have made for a much nicer NM set of knives.

On the other hand, Black Paper Micarta may be common and inexpensive, but it's nice stuff. It's not a bad looking knife.

If these have yet to be produced as evidenced by the "8-12 week" comments...

Maybe the powers that be will hear us and paper goes away as G10 (at a minimum) rolls in. I'm not betting on it, but would be good news.

I would gladly pay the $60.00 up charge to get G-10 or TH micarta but as per my phone call the shop is not modifying the NMFSH in any way.

I'm aware. I've been reading most every post about this NMFSHLE.

I want it, but like most...my concerns are the handle material and thickness.

I'm ok with being a "chubby chaser" on this one, and am warming up to the paper.

I've got a RMD and MBC in paper, and like them both. It's just that...if this NMFSHLE were G10, Tigerhide, SnakeSkin or anything special, it would be a "no brainer".

+1 on not digging the handle. I was excited to add to my collection of satin tigerhide ...black paper seems cheap :(. I'll probably hold off on this.

BEAUTIFUL knife -- but not a fan of Black Paper (slick and slippery). Don't own a Fusion Steel Heart though. Tough one.

Jerry, give us a 'handle' on the future ... please ;)

I don't think there is anything to add. Good points made by all. +1 on the paper not being the best of choices for a chopper/user like this should be. I like my paper for my MBC but beyond that, I won't be getting it again. This knife should have been paired with canvas micarta of some sort, or G10.

For reference, I just happen to have a good comparison of the same two different handle offerings for comparison on the TG.
I wanted to give black paper a fair shake instead of going with canvas on the TGLB like I originally planned... needless to say, I already sold it to a family member on the cheap after using it and kept the much more expensive handsmoothed tigerhide linen version.
The TGLB worked fine, just did not like the handle... and it still looked like new since I didn't keep it long enough for it to change color on me like my cabs did.

Big bummer. I was 100% yes on this until the paper micarta- and mags only(??)- word came down. Linen would have made sense for use but I would have bit for canvas of course. As it stands, a picture of it will serve as much use for me. Ah well. What's another year or two wait? :o

I think it would make a LOT of sense to offer a CG version after the LE, as much sense as it does to offer the LE first.
It would usually work that you get the LE and then when the CG ones comes out, man, you cant miss on such a sweet blade for such a price, right? :)
I get it that guys may buy six of these and resell it for a profit, but that's not my case, I'm not reselling and it would suck if I buy the LE now and later cant afford the CG with the handles I want.
Tough one folks, and running out of time, but I think I'll wait for the CG. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will come after the LE, if not oh well, I'll wait until something I'm 100% positive comes out.

My views are quite different on this one than most.....

I actually don't mind the paper micarta handles as you can add friction tape to increase traction.

As far as the magnum grips go, I like the feel of them as my hands are on the smaller side.

I think the black paper micarta was chosen mainly to keep the price down on this monster.

Maybe Jerry is taking a page out of Dan's book??

As it stands though, the price tag is still way out of my limited budget so I'll just have to sit this one out....:grumpy:

It would be nice to get any handle scale you want......kind of a semi custom deal.

Paper micarta feels better in hand than G10 to me.

Much better. Feels warmer some how.
