Guys, I am so happy to bring you this news. The deal with Fred Perrin was successfully completed today, and I received word of this just an hour ago. Please allow me to tell you how all of this came about.
I had the chance last week to buy 12 Fred Perrin G10 La Griffes, and made that fact known here in the Emerson Forum. I also made it known that I would be offering 10 of these to you guys at my cost (dirt cheap), just to keep them here in the family. Suddenly you guys were flooding my e-mail wanting to reserve these La Griffes. Within 24 hours of my post, I had 26 people wanting to reserve a G10 La Griffe, and that was way before I knew whether or not my deal was successful.
And then my deal began falling apart, due to a friend of mine arguing over the trade that he was obtaining these La Griffes from. So rather than wait for that entire ordeal to pan-out, I decided to find a more reliable source, and it had to be a source who could provide way more than a dozen.
So I put the word out, and help came my way. Larry Brahms from Bladeart offered to help. I explained to him that I didn't want to let you guys down after getting your hopes up, and asked him if we could somehow manage to contact Fred Perrin in France right away, and see if Fred would make a huge limited run of G10 La Griffes, especially for the Emerson Forum guys, at half the going price. I was halfway joking when I asked Larry all of this. I was grabbing at air. I told Larry that the Emerson guys would swear loyalty to Bladeart and Fred Perrin. I sold your souls, guys! Oh, but it was worth it.
So Larry says, "Okay, Eric. Laci Szabo (Laci owns your souls now too) is in France with Fred right now, so I'll give Laci and Fred a call, and see what we can arrange."
So Larry and I floated a few more e-mails past each other during a two day period. Finally, Laci returned home today and Larry called Fred to hammer out the final details, which are now FINALIZED!!
First of all, Larry did an absolutely fantastic job with this deal. Second of all, Fred is absolutely thrilled to provide US Emerson Forum guys with a special run of his G10 La Griffes, and he feels honored that we are so interested in him and his blades. Did I say "Special Run"? Yeah. Special. And limited. It's limited to 50 pieces total. And it's special because these will be utterly sterile. Yup. Not the normal "F.Perrin" on the blade. We're talkin' Black-ops, squeaky clean, Spook Specials. Oh yessssss!! This is too cool.
Larry is a miracle-worker. Thank you, Larry!!
Okay gang, here's the score; You want one (or two)of these Limited Edition Emerson Forum ONLY Fred Perrin G10 La Griffe Spook Specials? Yeah, so do I. And here's how we get them.
Oh,...before I tell you how to get them,..let me make you aware that nobody is making jack-squat off of this deal. Everyone knew that going into this deal. I started this deal because I wanted to thank you guys for welcoming me to this great forum, which has become my second home (and also because I really like Fred Perrin's blades). Larry sewed this deal up because in his words "It's the Forum. The guys deserve it.", and because he's just really a helluva nice guy. Laci Szabo and Larry are buddies, so I'm sure that Laci took care of his end as a favor to Larry, and also because Laci is a swell guy too. And Fred? Fred, from all I've heard, is about as solid of a guy as you'll ever run into. Everyone who knows him says so. Fred is doing this simply because alot of really decent knife-guys want his knives, and he's proud to make them for us, for as little money as possible. For any of you who order these, please consider them a gift from Fred, because that's exactly what they are. He's making these especially for you guys, so these are truly Fred Perrin customs. The price we're paying for them is basically materials, a few bucks for Fred's trouble, shipping from France, and import fees. Laci, Larry, and I aren't making jack off this deal. If you doubt that, then please don't order any of these Perrin G10 La Griffes. Seriously. This deal was put together by a bunch of guys who felt that it would be fun to do something nice for the Emerson Forum. Nothing more, nothing less.
NOW, if you like and believe everything you've just read, and would really like to own one or two of these, then here's how it needs to happen: (These are the conditions of Fred and Larry's agreement)
1.This limited run will be no more than 50 pieces within a 10 day order period.
(Guys, in other words, Fred will begin making these as soon as we order a total of 50 G10 La Griffes, or as soon as 10 days is up, whichever comes first. We begin counting tomorrow, on January 3rd, 2001. So, if we only have 30-40 ordered by January 13th, then no more orders will be accepted, and Fred will begin making the Griffes for us. However, if we achieve 50 orders right away, then no more orders will be accepted, and Fred will start making these right away. THIS is what I hope we can do so that we all get our Griffes SOON. So let's get these orders in, guys! As soon as Fred begins making these, it will take him 2-3 weeks to complete and deliver the entire order to Bladeart. Remember, these are entirely handmade by Fred, so he's going to be very busy for us and he will make these as fast as possibly can, without sacrificing quality.
2.The price for each Fred Perrin G10 La Griffe is $55, plus $4.50 shipping, for a total of $59.50. If you live in Florida, please include 6.5% sales tax.
3. Now, here's a choice for you to make: You can either place your order through Bladeart and pay it in full, or place your order through Bladeart and just put down a deposit, OR you can e-mail me and give me your solemn word of honor that you absolutely positively want one of these as soon as they are delivered to Bladeart. See, we don't want Fred to make any more than he has to, and we don't want Bladeart to get stuck with any of these when the run is delivered, so please order through Bladeart and either pay in full or give them a deposit now. If for some reason you can't, then reserve your order through me and I will trust you to pay Bladeart as soon as Bladeart receives the run. Larry and I understand that sometimes money is tight after the holidays, but we want you to get one of these, so we will take your word for it that you'll buy one when they arrive. Trust; that's what this is all about, gang.
Here's how to contact Bladeart:
Call them at 1-800-821-7461 and tell them that you're calling to order the Fred Perrin G10 LaGriffe for the one time price of $55 plus $4.50 shipping. If they don't believe you for some reason, tell them that Larry Brahms arranged the deal. Bladeart should already be set up to take orders, but if you have any problem, just ask for Larry Brahms personally. They accept Visa, MC, and Amex.
Any prior reservations that I've received will be honored, but I'd prefer that you guys order direct through Bladeart now that we have it all arranged. I just don't want anyone to miss out on this deal in case I'd experience a bizarre computer crash or something. In fact, just so that everyone here in the forums can keep track of how close we are to having Fred craft and deliver our G10 Griffes, how about we do this: As soon as you place your order with Bladeart, be sure to post here in this thread that you've ordered. Simply post that your order is confirmed and tell us how many you've ordered. Feel free to post any questions or comments in this thread as well, but please don't post "Confirmed for one" until you actually place your order with Bladeart, okay? I'll post my confirmation as soon as I start this thread, because my order is IN! Get 'em while you can, gang. And guys? Here's to a very Happy New Year, with G10 Griffes for everyone!
Thank you Larry, Laci, and Fred for making this happen! There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING that a few good knife-guys can't accomplish. You guys are the best!
Best Regards,
Eric
P.S. Here's the link to the picture of the G10 La Griffe on my site. This is what you'll be getting:

BTW, please make sure that you fully realize that these Fred Perrin G10 La Griffes that we're making available to you are ALL 100% G10 Fiberglass Laminate. They are very light, very strong, and quite sharp, but they obviously aren't going to be shaving-sharp or SCARY SCALPEL SHARP like a 154CM La Griffe would be. These G10's are not for everyday utility cutting. These are last ditch emergency weapons. Use them for their intended purpose and they'll serve you well. I KNOW that you guys already know this, but Larry is making me say it anyway.
