Getchorself a Eureka.

I had one, sold it, miss it. I'd like the opportunity if that's acceptable. It's okay if not. As far as a picture.....how about a Scottish Fold?

Paul, stupid question time, is that something they do in your neck of the woods? I know that there are some regional differences, Hebrides and Highlands notwithstanding.

Not really, in the Hebrides it's a bit more about who has the best looking sheep or beast.... My tractor is better than yours.... I caught a fish this big.... I can shoot better'n you.... Let's all drink and dance some more.... Hic....

The Highland games tend to stay in the hills, but a lot of people go across to the mainland to watch or compete. It's great craic.

What? No Haggis...??

D'you know, they're just about coming into season now. I've had a few people come into the station to have their haggis hunt permits renewed for the approaching summer ;)

Great pictures guys and gals, I've been enjoying them hugely!

Paul

Not an entry as I have this exact model. But very generous of you to offer such a fine knife. GEC got it right with these.

I'm in, and I'm hoping that giving the picture a personal touch will help more than hurt me here. The backstory...

The pic is of me (yes, me) quite a number of years ago (more than 10) at a YMCA camp I worked at. I had a group of rough kids that week, and we were having trouble gelling as a group. I can't quite remember what happened, but I tried to give a pep talk to perk them up and one of these kids (they were 12 year old boys) was like, "Who do you think you are? William Wallace?" So I redid my pep talk in my best-yet-still-horrific Scottish accent, and we were rolling on the floor laughing. It worked. They were so jazzed up that we all dressed up (as best we could) and painted our faces before we went to the evening camp-wide gathering. We descended on them shouting and whooping and they never knew what hit them. It was a great week.

Beautiful knife, thoughtful giveaway. Whoever receives it will be lucky to receive your generosity.

What a generous giveaway. I got to handle a eureka jack for the first time yesterday & it really is a great pattern. I don't have a picture of anything Scottish but growing up my grandpa always used to say the Frazier name was Scottish. One day I started searching it & found some pretty cool info. Some of the info varies slightly but for the most part is pretty consistent. Here is a paragraph I found interesting.

"Frazier Genealogy & History
Frazier is a Scottish surname that came about because of heraldry, which was labeled in French. The clan's ancestral lands included an area full of strawberry fields, and the heraldic term for strawberry is "fraisse". From there to Frazier is fairly straightforward. At one point, the clan was the most powerful in Scotland. Frazier family history properly begins with the 1160 enrolling of Sir Simon Frasee in the charters of East Lothian, earlier than most Scottish names."

Hey Paul, great idea for a GAW, and a very nice knife as well.
Not an entry, please, but thank you for your continued contributions to the forum.

What's the definition of a Scottish gentleman?

...A man who can play the bagpipes.... but doesn't. ;) :D

D'you know, I was racking my brains.. Loch Norman, Loch Norman, where is loch Norman? I feel dumb, took me almost a minute to realise it's not in Scotland. :)

No sir. Right outside Charlotte North Carolina. This was my first trip to this particular festival. We had a very nice time.

Sort of off-topic, but I wonder if pmew is familiar with the work of Mike Myers (featured above as Fat Bas**** from Austin Powers and in my post as Stuart something from a series of "If it's not Scottish, it's crap" sketches from Saturday Night Live.

Sco'ish, you say?

Me blood, if long diluted.

I'll take a chance on this one -- in. :)
