Some of you may have seen my Double Talon stripper thread where I found a ground in squiggly mark on my blade......

Well, thise marks were driving me nuts so with some WD40 and flat file to back some emory cloth......

Plus about three hours of elbow grease, I ended up wit this......

It's by no means a beauty and it wasn't meant to be. I could go over it with a finer grit and get the lines all straightened out but when it comes down to it.....I just had to get those dang squiggles out.

I had a ratwieler that i stripped, then found a zig zag of dashes. Not as much as that one, but very similar. I wonder why they do that. It was on both sides too.

Great job, I think it looks great. Good for you for making it the knife you want it to be.

I had the squiggles once...shot of penicillin and I was back in action ;)

looks good, now beat on her mercilessly

My knife/gun OCD got the better of me so I just got finished doing the other side to match and straightened up the sanding lines with a scotchbrite pad. Lol!

Took the edges off the inside of the rear talon. Waaaay more comfortable against the pinky finger now.

Three hours!! I'm way too lazy for that, props to you. Did you try just using the file itself, or will it not cut the steel?

I am a person of logic and one of my entertainment exercises is trying to look at situations and figure out in my mind a logical explanation for something.

A logical conclusion for this would be if they had a row or stack of blades and needed to mark where a color change occurs without having to re-prep the blade for finishing they could be marking the blade with a stone in a die grinder knowing it would be covered by powder coating. When the finisher gets to the marked knife they either stop or start on that blade. It explains why we see it show up from time to time.

If they marked it with anything else (sharpie, dye-chem, tape, paint pen etc) it would need prepped again. A less obvious mark would be easily missed.

Nice work btw! Always fulfilling to see a plan come together. In my blade shop I have a magnetic vice integrated into my work bench that I would use for sanding flats, sure makes it go quicker.

Thanks! A set up like that would be nice. Every stroke I took, I was afraid that I would fillet my hand or forearm. Lol!

I have had squiggles on every(coated) Busse blade that I have stripped to some degree. Never seen anything THAT crazy! Great looking blade!

That reminds me of a bushwhacker MISTRESS LE.

That's a fine blade. Cut up some steak now. Seriously bud. It'll rainbow up in a jiffy.

I plan doing exactly that. I did it when it still had a coating and the edge turned blue before I was even done trimming the meat. Pretty cool look. Can't wait to see what it looks like totally covered in color.

IIRC, those squiggles are commonly seen on SR101 and SR77 blades; but not INFI. Amirite?
