Gettin' rid of the squiggles

IIRC, those squiggles are commonly seen on SR101 and SR77 blades; but not INFI. Amirite?

True as far as I've seen

Adding "squiggles" seems pretty slipshod to me. Why not just add some small mark, or a mark that will be hidden by the scales.

Is the whole purpose to discourage stripping.....ok, I guess not, some folks have found awesome strippers.

Busse has got to know that "they'll never see it" is no excuse with this clientele.

I don't get it either. Why go thru the work to make a nice blade and then take an extra step to make it ugly? At work when I make a part with nice welds and or machine work, I want to show it off. Last thing I'd want to do is take a grinder to it.

Most of the ones I've seen are extremely regular, and people have speculated it was from some kind of hardness testing.

Took the edges off the inside of the rear talon. Waaaay more comfortable against the pinky finger now.

Great job on taking out the squiggles too, but I'm really interested in giving this treatment to the talons on mine. I'm debating it though b/c I probably wasn't going to strip my whole blade since I like the two-tone look on the flats. Not sure how good it would look with naked flats and talons, but the rest still coated...

I also think it would be epic if someone sanded their talons down into full blown fangs, lol :D

You could dehorn the edges then mask it off and paint the shiny spots with a matching color. It's such a small are that I doubt it would be noticeable unless to told someone about it. It really does make it way more pinky friendly. I didn't bother messing with the front one. My hand rides back when chopping and if I have to choke up on the handle to use the finger choil, it's nothing that is going to be strenuous enough to bother my middle finger.

Good ideas guys, thx. I'm not in a hurry so I'll probably mull it over a while longer.

I hear what you're saying about the rear one Clampdaddy, the coating softens the edges a little, but I've still had some pinky discomfort while using it without gloves. With gloves, I like how locked in my hand feels and it hasn't been much of an issue, but I still figure giving it some diy meltdown treatment can only make it better.
