I have thought about it long and hard, and searched the darkest corners of the internet, spoken with many people, tried many out, asked alot of question and I have arrived at the answer of what brand new anvil to get, and I have settled on one of Jymm Hoffman's Continental double horn designs. Made in USA, cast at an American Foundry of H13 means alot to me. Jymm is an incredibly talented guy, he came to demo at my local guild in NY and then I saw him again at the guild here in MD and it's always a pleasure to watch him work. Kinda small at 110 pounds, but having tried them they work like an anvil twice the size with the mass properly put under the face, plus it will be easy to move/transport. I am very excited! It will compliment my Sea Robin Perfectly!

Those look really nice. Must be kind of weird getting a brand new new anvil. It seems very few people tend to get the new ones. Sounds like a great anvil and that extra flat top horn looks like it could be pretty useful.

Quint, it will be but very cool I think. The tapered tail horn is Quite useful for a lot of different shaping, I specifically looked for a double horn anvil as opposed to a london pattern.

thanks guys!

Yeah but, and no insult meant to the memory of Russell Jacqua, but the horns on that style anvil are far to bulgy for most fine work, the horn on Jymm's is much more versatile I feel. Horns are different then other htings like powerhammers, you can do big bends on little horns but not little bends on big horns

Sam, that is probably not a bad price at all. Around 6-7 years ago, I bought a 260 pound (model 110) anvil through oldworldanvils and paid a tad over $900.00 for it including shipping. Today, that same anvil is over $1600.00 plus shipping. It is a great anvil, and has good rebound. Now, it is just sitting and collecting dust because of shoulder problems and extreme heat in the south. Maybe this winter I will feel like banging on some stuff.

I like the fact that the one you mentioned is made in the U.S. In today's market, it is hard to find many things made here. I am an old geezer, but I still think that the majority of tools and equipment made in the U.S. will out-shine anything made anywhere else. I suppose that I am sounding a bit "Pro-America", and if I am.......... I am proud of it.

Go for it.............. Robert

thanks Fellas!

Robert, I remember looking at anvils on OWA when they were that price! I agree about the made in USA part too, nothing EVER to be ashamed about! I figure, this anvil will offset my chinese powerhammer :D

Jymm says it's going to be a couple weeks for the foundry, then grinding and heat treating and finish work hope to have it before Ashokan!

I bought a new 110 kg Peddinghaus for €400 from our hardwareshop who had it standing around for years and wanted to get rid of it.

Robert YES! I will have to find something bigger actually, if I hope to get any work done! Being in MD for work now my shop has turned into a storage unit, and I am buying lots of tools here :D

LOL Bill!

Erik you lucky SOB!
