Getting a ESEE 6 need help.

The sharpened false edge just gets in the way for me and increases the likelihood of getting cut. I have a standard ESEE-4. I can see the utility of the sharpened edge only for a purely offensive/defensive use knife. I have a hard time imagining myself defending myself with a knife. That's why I carry a gun and that has a lot more reach than any knife.
