There's a tactical store in Fresno, CA called Tactical Practical that has one for $130

Score :D

You're going to hate it, you just won't like that knife, I'm telling ya man.

I think you should send it to me to just to be safe ;)

Folding Persian :D

It is marked Emerson 2004 and nothing else. No "Persian" or "P-Tac". Is this good? Serial number is 0251.

I would say wait until they make them again. It is listed on Knifecenter and they are taking orders which means their are plans for putting these on production. Man, Emerson really needs to run their machines 24/7!

I'v got a couple of Persians like that with just the logo and date. Its what they etched the blade with at that time, I don't think it means much.

They are really great knives though. You can get an Idea of just how sweet my frame lock Persian is now ;):D:thumbup:

frame lock is the next logical step

Actually came up with an aftermarket bolt on wave idea that would leave the knife stock if removed.

Charlie Mike - Been a while, how's it going? Anyways, I've got the persian on my list too - Please give me an update on your impressions after using for a while.

Haze, If you don't mind I'd like your impressions as well. Also, did you own yours before it was "pimped"?

Thanks,
Gibby

I'll take any chance I can get to tout the Persian so I hope you sitting comfortably :D

I have a few pimped Persians all of wich I bought as standard. The latest one was the STR frame lock with Tom K regrind. I'm always
a bit hesitant to buy pimped knives unless I know who worked on them so I tend to buy a user for pimping if that what I want to do.

As to the Persian generally I personally think its the best looking EKI and is a vastly underated knife. While its defo not a knife thought of as a typical EDC blade it is actually a very usefull knife. I have been carrying a Persian on and off for years now and other than the fact that it is large (long) I have had no issues with carrying the knife at all. The blade is a good size and shape for a range of tasks and other than the needle point (a good and a bad thing) I have had no concerns or problems.

Altough the Persian is usefull for alot of other stuff it was obviously designed around and for a rather specific use. I have been involved in ME and SE Asian martial arts for a good while now and the Persian is a knife I like a great deal. The handle shape makes the knife very easy to manipulate and to hold in a variety of positions. I have never had a knife that is as versitile in grip positions as the Persian. Its nearly like it was designed to fit each position individually. The blade shape is one that has proven its self to be good at its job time and again and can be found in the same role all over the world. As with any well designed knife it is capable of a number of usses, the handle shape means its nice to use for utility as well as secure and comfortable in combat. The blade shape with its trailing point and good belly makes it as usefull as a kitchen knife as it is a bushcraft or SD knife.

All said and done its a fine knife indeed and a must for any EKI collection :)

Thanks haze. I am really diggin' it. I would definitely have to re-handle mine if I got it though - I just never cared for the flat slab g-10 that is so prevelant with Emersons.

As you mentioned, it's a no-brainer that the tip design is good and bad (penetration - good, easily breaking off - bad). Which stirs me to ask, what do you think of Bud Nealys Pesh Kabz?

Thanks again,
Gibby

I have found the Bud Nealy knives to be very good, the Peshkabs is a nice knife and defo. goes a long way to fixing the problem of the realy fine point on that style of blade.
I have an old Afghan "Choora" that has a similar point style on it so it seems to have worked for a while :)
I also have "Persian" styled blades that have a deeper grind at the belly of the blade finishing at a much shallower angle at the point. The Emersons are ground kind if the same way but some have a more uniform grind angle over the whole length of the blade than others.
