Hi everyone!

I plan to purchase a Wharncliffe Urban for college (in Philadelphia) and I am not sure if I will ever have the chance to handle it before I order it. So, for those who have one or have handled one, could you tell me your impressions of it?

Thanks kindly,
~Mike

I had one but traded it off.

Before the trade I actually really liked the knife, fit very well and your fingers just fit perfect in the choils.

I had the FG leaf shaped though.

Its great, I do much prefer the leaf bladed one my self but they are both a nice bit of kit.

I have been carrying one for a few weeks now and the wee buggers growing on me.
Its even managed to kick my small Seb back into the drawer no less

I don't have any insight on the blade (but I've looked at it myself and wanted it.) Just be careful, we have a no-knife-anytime-in-public city ordnance here in Philly.

I love carrying mine - it stays in my rotation :D It's small, light and very functional. The spring weight is strong too so that makes it safe for general EDC use.

I handled one and it is nice. The way it secure open was very solid and positive. It is very much like a Calyspo Jr. Sized folder. Nice light and slim.

Thanks a bunch for pictures and thoughts! :)

I will be carrying this on campus of Philadelphia University where I will study Architecture for the next five years. My Urban will see a great deal of cardboard, chip board, balsa wood, etc....It will be my go-to knife for my time on campus.

I had to use mine to unscrew a couple dozen very tight self tapping screws in hard plastic to free a toy train from the bondage of its extremely solid packing for my GF's son at Disneyland in March. I used the tip of the spine as the screwdriver. That and I had to use the very tip of the edge to cut through some very thick (1/8") and very hard plastic retaining tabs for that train packaging with this very same Urban. I used a fulcrum to pry the tip up through the bottom of those tabs because it was such hard plastic and trust me when I say I wasn't sure the knife tip would come back without a tweaking or some damage and I am delighted to report that the knife is 100% unscathed. All I had to do was touch up the edge a tiny bit and not nearly as much as I thought it would need. Great little knife!

This Urban Wharnie has had me interested for a while now, but I know I'll need something a bit more heavy duty.
I guess I'll have to get searching for a Yojimbo...

I love the design, but the orange scales don't do much for me. I try to be discrete when carrying. The wharncliffe is a very useful blade.
