Getting dragged into the 21st century, and finally buying an iPod

Ipods are kinda getting outdated already.I stopped using it after I got my android phone,I put all my mp3's on my 16 gb micro sd card and I use the PowerAmp app,its better sound quality than a crappy ipod.

Download Google Music to your phone and PC and upload your music. Once you upload your tunes through Google Music on your PC your music syncs with the Google Music app on your phone. Your music will be with everywhere. No need for anything extra.

Does this take up data/bandwidth usage? Sounds great it doesn't, or if it does but you have unlimited data. Otherwise, it seems like it'd be quite easy to hit your limit pretty quickly.

As for upgrading your phone, shs...I don't mean to slight your christmas gift, but the phone you have is a fairly low-end Droid; which means you can get a much better one, but it might cost a chunk of change. However, that difference could easily be the same or less than the ~$200 you're willing to spend on an iPod, so that'd be a good route to go, IMO. For example, the Samsung Charge. Retail is $170 more than the Enlighten, comes with a 32gb memory card, has a far better camera, better screen (and bigger, although that might not be what you're looking for), faster processor, etc. Plus it's a 4G phone. The Enlighten isn't, nor are any of the iPhones. And the cheapest iPhone is more expensive than the Charge (plus it's only a 4, not a 4S) and only has 8gb.

I also suggest keeping your phone and music player seperate. Main reason is battery life. My iPod lasts about a week before needing a charge, and I use it about 2 hours a day. I tried that with my phone (HTC Desire), and my phone was dead in about 6 hours.

There are many people recommending using the smart phone for all and none are addressing this. It seems like a significant issue to consider imo.

That is a good point. My little 4gb iPod Nano goes for like a full day on a battery charge, and it's tiny (meaning the battery is even tinier). But while my Android phone can last a few days on standby, it'll drain in mere hours (several, but way less than a day) if I have music playing on it. This kinda baffles me. The biggest drains on smartphones are the screen, GPS, wireless internet (3/4G), and wifi. Even using it as an actual phone takes less juice than those do things do. But playing music on it definitely seems to drain it more than it should, if you compare it to dedicated mp3 players. I can't speak for iPhones, or for Androids other than my own (SE xperia X10), but given the battery capacity, it seems like it should last much longer than it does when just playing music.

I bought an 8GB SD card for my phone, but am still just looking at an iPod. I bought an el cheapo MP3 player from a coworker.
