Getting my CCW... What should I carry???

Revolver is a terrific choice for a beginner. If anything goes wrong, just keep pulling the trigger. No clearing misfeeds or ejection issues due to operator error. Smith and wesson revolver is what I got my baby sister. But as Garth said, make sure you hold and shoot one before you buy to make sure its comfortable, managable, and (if you have smaller hands) can reach the trigger properly without overextending

♂ carry options . . . .

Okay, I admit that was a nice video lol. But what worries me is appearance it will give if you "adjust" your gun. But whatever you go with, get training and practice practice practice. Practice reloading quickly, with weak hand, etc just so you are familiar with your set up. I would avoid the bra gun (May take out one of the girls), the garter (Can't see a quick draw and you reach for that area, they WILL be watching :D ). I think a hip holster is best and be aware of printing (the gun is printing itself through the shirt).

The Glock 26 with 9mm 124 grain +p Gold Dot hollow points is a good CCW. It comes with 10 round magazines, but you can also use all the other Glock 9mm magazines including 12(+2 extension), 15, 17, and 33 round;) It is reliable, and easy to shoot. The std trigger states it is 5.5 lbs, but is actually more like 6 lbs. If you really want to make it feel like a revolver you can put a New York trigger in it to bring the pull up to 8 lbs. Once you get use to the Glock trigger you might find it is easier to shoot fast and accurate than a revolver, with more fire power and faster reloads. I am currently carrying the G27 in .40, but it has quite a bit more recoil than the 9mm. By the way, the Gen 4 models have a shorter trigger reach, and a good nonslip gripping surface.

Handled the S&W M&P Shield today at the NRA convention. It is really small, but at the same time comfortable in the hand. There seems to be a lot of new small guns from all the makers that should be comfortable for women's hands.

Leaving you a visitor's message. Please have a look.

even that little kel-tec .32 is much better than no gun. they make a pocket clip for it and it weighs about 6 ounces.

Try to shpoot as many friends guns as you can before you spend a penny on one. Start off with a 9mm for the simple reason ammo is cheap and will allow you to practivce more then say a 40 or a 45. A hit with a 9mm is far better then a miss with a 45. be it double action, single action sig, colt, glock, or HK, whatever you choose, get some proper training and practice practice practice.

I have been a LEO and carried a gun for the past 15 years, and I never stop shooting friends guns before I buy a new one!!! Always try before you buy!!! Don't go buy something because of what a magazine said about it or what some internet commando expert tells you is the best, or what "The Navy SEALS use". Buy what you are comfortable with.

There's a lot of truth here. The most important thing is to find something that is comfortable for your hands. Also consider the cost of mags and accessories when buying a gun. I cringe whenever I have to buy a mag for one of my damn Sigs. As for caliber I like 9mm and .357 ( revolver) because they're pretty cheap to shoot (practice with) and readily available. Some people may argue that .45 is a superior round and while I agree; with good ammo there isn't a huge difference. 9mm will let you throw more bullets.

I really like the airlight S&W revolvers in .357 for EDC. You can shoot either .38 special or .357, they're small, lightweight and go bang whenever you pull the trigger. A revolver is great for EDC because there's less to think about and less to go wrong under pressure.

That being said I carry a Glock 23 with night sights and extended slide and mag releases. It's a great CCW size, easy to use and reliable. I would like to get a compact Glock in 9mm but would also consider the S&W M&P series because I find them to be more comfortable.

Hey Pokey, have you decided on something yet? Personally I find shopping for guns and knives to be like being a kid in a candy/toy/videogame shop; I want them all but only have enough for one... then I spend hours mulling over which one I want :D I got a PT92 a couple of weeks ago, but gotta get something else soon... too many roles, not enough money for the guns to fill them... Kind of like shoes or purses for women... The PT92 will go great with my CamelBak but now I need to get something that will go with my shorts ;)

She has a free holster from Buy Brown when ever she gets a pistol !!! :)

Walther PPS 40. I have many CC sub pistols and this is the best by far. I open carry it accidentally quite often.

my vote is still glock. they are the K.I.S.S. pistol. they are carried by more law enforcement agency's than another brand for a reason.
