Getting ready for dinner with the King!

Good call on the spray bottle and the cover. Was thinking of making a wooden box that could double as a case when tailgating!

And great looking pizza BTW!

I like the spray bottle idea too.

I tried making a box for mine but ended up keeping mine in one of those large army ammo cans. Enough room for charcoal, small bottle of lighter fluid, bottle of oil, and all my grilling tongs and stuff. Even used the top of the box as a table when cooking sometimes.

Hmm, I like your thinking about the ammo box? Do you know the size/caliber?

I don't but I'll take a look later today and try to take a picture and measure it for you. I painted over the green years ago so the info is long gone.

Here ya go GMoney. This is how I used to keep mine. I have traveled and cooked with it in Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, and I think I took it to Florida once.

This is the box itself. Has latches on both sides so the top come completely off.

I store it kinda of like this. Depending on what else I needed to bring with me, I might move some stuff around a bit but its gonna have to go like that. I usually would put a small bag of charcoal inside of the grill to utilize all the space.

It fits on top perfectly. ( this is my old school grill when they used to have designs on the front plate. My newer one is like yours and just says Lodge. This one has a waterfowl scene)

From the side. I some times would carry a piece of wood that was just a little wider that the ammo box top to cook on but either way works.

Hope that helps you out and gives you some Ideas about what might work for you.

Maybe someone here can tell us exactly what ammo can that is for. I picked it up at a surplus years ago.

That's the ticket right there. I think I'll stop at fort Campbell and pick one of those up.

Do you think it would work ok with wood?

Are you asking if you can cook with wood instead of charcoal?

I do sometimes. This thread got me excited about my grill again so I lit her up last night and cooked dinner. I was out of lighter fluid so I decided not to bother with charcoal and to use wood. Great excuse to baton some wood! It took a little while for them to burn down to coals but it worked awesome.

These things are also great if you put a griddle on top. I have cooked eggs and pancakes many times out in the woods.

Wow - that little grill cost $135?

Looks like a nice grill but that seems like a lot. Must be high quality.

$135 in Canada lol! But yeah, It's a nice rig made of gorgeous cast iron and it's manufactured in the US. It was worth it for us.

135?.... i see it at 69.97 with free shipping..

l0l! Not up here! There was a big box retailer that had if for a bit less but we didn't want drive that far out of the city. Instead we picked it at a more local independent retailer that's been in business since 1975. It works for us.

Screw it. I just ordered one on the River before they change their mind on free shipping. Listed shipping price was $28.24.
Between this thing and my Lodge Dutch Oven, I should be able to kick some butt at car camp cooking.

Im ordering mine Friday! Wife is excited for it too.

We were looking at the Vargo Titanium Hexagon Wood Stove before i seen this, but this looks better made and just bigger. we mostly car camp so weight isn't an issue. thanks for the info!
