Been a productive last few days. Thanks to David at Great Lakes for the fantastically quick work getting the cutouts to me! Ignore the surface rust :D

how do you put handles on the split tangs.... friend gave me a knife that was in a fire to put a handle on and it has the same type of split... it had leather washers on it with a alum pommel before the fire..... not sure what to put on it
thanks

The "split" in these is actually for an insert piece that I make to put a firesteel (ferrocerrium rod) into. If I'm correct, the knife you have is what is references as a "fork" tank (don't quote me on this). I have two 1/8" pin holes on each "leg" so 4 pins hold the slabs on and then they're epoxied. For yours I would say that you could do a mortise on each slab maybe then epoxy and pin. If you send me a pic at erik dot boese at verizon dot net I may be able to help better...

In the email I thought you said one was not quite flat ??

LOL...sorry, if I did I misspoke. I actually got one thinner because I DID have to flatten it out so much. Apparently it had an extra layer of scale on it. I think it's the middle one in the pic, not sure...
