The pieces you have weo....are they maple?

Yep. Big leaf maple from my property. Here's a pic of the top 1/4 slab I cut off a burl from a tree I took down last fall. It's about 3' across.

You're right, but even more if I don't slab it.... I'm looking forward to cutting them up, but not looking forward to moving them.

You are going to flood the maple knife handle market and burl blocks will be selling for $3 each!

hahaha. That's not my plan, rather to have handles for me for the next 20 years.....If I become good enough to have a name, maple burl handles may be one of my trademarks.
