Getting started in the Knife World

I'm excited for you to get all this awesome little boxes full of knife goodness! Good call on picking up an edge pro! You're gonna need a decent pair of pants with lots of pockets to clip all them knives!

Welcome to bf thx for your service to our country.... Sounds like you can handle it all with those knives...

Yeah I have a quite a few cheaper knifes around the house that I will practice on before I even think about messing with my new knives. I'm definitely not brave enough to go scraping away at my investment before I'm well informed and practiced at sharpening.

As for the people recommending the Salt series from Spyderco; I saw some of them and they look fantastic. Especially a combo or fully serrated one for rope cutting tasks. Though I've been told that many of the people that are on boats all day will keep cheaper knives at hand for fear of dropping an expensive knife into the water. I liked the suggestion of the Mora Companion because at that price point I could lose it and wouldn't lose my head as well.

The folders that I bought were not really meant to be carried while I'm at sea, they will be personal carry and everyday knives.
