Getting that urge again. 3" EDC

Looks great, but how does the scalloped handle feel in the hand? It looks like a lot of hot spots waiting to happen. Love the Axis lock and M390 is awesome.

It works great for my medium hands. The only hot spot is right behind the axis lock, but that could be my technique.

There's a review here.

I absolutely love my Benchmade 586, its only gotten kicked out of my pocket by the 940-1 (and thats really just because im a carbon junkie) but IMHO the 586 is a better knife. Its pretty sheepie friendly in size. Ive taken the assist out of mine and its by far the smoothest pivot Ive ever felt, including super high end ceramic bearings on bikes. Size wise it fits my hand perfectly, I can fit all 4 fingers comfortably with my large hands. Also m390, I mean does anyone ever need to say anymore? The only thing holding me back from buying a 484 is that its so similar, and aesthetically I prefer the blade shape on the barrage, but thats entirely personal preference.

I've seen enough knives to know that interesting/novel knives have value just for originality, so anything out of the usual would get heavy consideration.

Check out the EnZo Birk 75 scandi grind folder. Comes in a choice of steels (S30V or D2) and handle materials.

Here's a review that includes a brief comparison of the Birk 75 with the Sage 1:

If you want to go a completely different route you can pick up a traditional slip joint, sodboster pattern. GEC Bullnose has a 3in blade in 01 with a nice fit and finish for around $50. I own one and it takes a very sharp edge quite easily, fits in the hand quite comfortably and all around quite practical. In fact it gets more pocket time than the Damascus Skyline which is my favorite one handed folder.

Than there is the Queen Country Cousin (their micarta one looks nice in my opinion) in D2 with a slightly smaller blade but has more of a point to it, though you should could on it having a blunt blade that requires it to be reprofiled out of the box and not as nice fit and finish. Though this is from what I researched on the knife I have no first hand experience with it.

I have to admit that bullnose became one of my favorite EDC's quite fast. Easy to take an edge, quick strop to bring it back, extremely comfortable and light, and the nifebrite handle one I have looks nice.

Spyderco Dice. Just got one...a mini Domino. VERY nice with a 2.5 inch blade and wicked flipper action.

I'm looking for some practical 2~3" blade. My EDC is BKC 940/950/810. My hands are above average in size for my height (med+) So, I was looking for short blade with sturdy handle. I don't think I need to be able to reverse hold, but I will not dismiss it.

One of the choice is Dragonfly2. My wife bought Dragonfly2 and I am mesmerized with ergo and ability to have thick blade. Although it has short handle, because it has 50/50 choil, I can choke hold and my pinky fits in holding it. (Just a little bit short though :( )

Another one is Sage3. I would need to have ambidextrous open/close with one hand. (Just my personal choice.) So, I am tilting toward Sage 3 CF.

Check out the Benchmade 707. You can often find LE models used for a good price, including the M390 models. The older 705 has some cool LEs too and is similar to the 707. I like the 705 and 707 due to a very compact form factor much like the Small Sebenza. I love the Delica but it has a much wider and pronounced carry profile than the 707, so the 707 is my pick for a small EDC.

Just imagine me, with a paper hat and towel for a cape, walking around in my backyard with a sharpened stick softy chanting *Seb-en-za Seb-en-za* over and over again.

But seriously, do you have one already? Or is there some there another reason why you can't take it to the next level!?
Just curious I suppose, I fully understand you aren't looking for a sebbie recommendation.

But the small 21 coming in at 2.94 inches and 3 oz sounds like it would fit all your agenda aside from price....and if there is one thing I've learned the hard way it's to not shop by price. It'll always leave you wanting for more, not that this forum doesn't already do a spectacular job of that :D

I like the Benchmades I've held, overall, but for whatever reason the prices seem unreasonable for 154 CM, which to me is no better than 440C or VG-10, decent but not something I'll pay more for. That being said, a Mini-Barrage is also on the shortlist. Never held one but just seems so pure.

The 940 is currently made with S30V steel and the 940-1 is made with S90V (I believe).

Benchmade also has one of the best warranties in the business. They'll replace that blade for $30.00 after you've beat the crap out of it. :)

CS recon 1 mini - the size you're looking for and dirt cheap to boot. Don't think that because it's cheap it sucks... It doesn't.
