Getting the Becker name out there.

This thread begs a question. You carry a hatchet made by Fiskars? Hope it works better than their saws do. After about 6 strokes with a (nicely built) Fiskars folding saw a stander-by did to me like you did to those folks with your Beckers...he showed me the light. I put down the POS Fiskars and took in hand the offered Bahco Laplander folding saw. Sawing through a sapling in about 3 seconds, I threw the Fiskars away. 3 weeks later, I own 2 Bahcos and feel much better prepared.

I finished my shelter using the Bahco and a BK9. With those two items in hand you can decimate a forest.

I can't believe no one has commented on my awesome t-shirt design yet. :D

I like it! Especially if one was to turn around to reveal a BK2 jutting from the top of their pants...clinched style carry!

I show off my stuff at every Gathering, Meet, and Competition I go to. BKT's are always a favorite, 'specially when the ask "How much was that?" "$65 delivered."WHAT? REALLY? That's all? Man, I gotta get one of these!" Hook set, time to reel'em in.

Using them to do stuff, is what gets people's attention. First time I cooked and ate an entire meal at a campout with some of my brother's friends, with nothing but my BK14, they flipped out. My little brother calls is "woodsy magic", the bushcrafting stuff I do , and just making a rack to cook some steak on, will blow some minds, didn't I?

Sold a BK2 this weekend. Shaving walking sticks for the kids, and their Dad said those magic words, "I gotta get me one of those."

I have the old Gerber Sportsmans saw, which at $10 was a bargain, and it works so amazingly well that I can't imagine going without it. I keep the hatchet around until Sheila is up to snuff so I can just use her. Big knife is so much more versatile (to me) than a hatchet, although I am sure there are those that feel the opposite.

It would be great if they could getr Beckers in a chain store like Gander Mountain or Bass pro shops.

You people will be the end of me- a bk2 and bk7 have been added to my list of knives to get in the next month and they're on the high end(sooner)

Well, here is a quick little story. I went to see a woman that used to work with me. She is a RN & LOVES knives. So i packed up a duffle bag full of a lot of my knives. All my Beckers, 1 Gerber, & all my Ontario Spec-Plus series. She liked them all, but when she picked up the first Becker, the BK2, she held it, hefted it, left then right, then got this big ear to ear grin on her face. Just like i did with the first Becker i held. She will own one of her own soon i am sure. Never fails. Let them hold one & it's all over. She was asking me where she could buy one before i left. LOL Never fails. Quality is noticed immediatley.

I had two people ask me about my BK2 just today as a matter of fact.

As mentioned in a previously located Becker sub-forum thread, I bought my wife a new carry piece, a Kel-Tec PF9. I got off work yesterday (now) morning and we loaded everything up to go to the range to run a hundred rounds or so through it to break it in. I was tired and she was in a hurry, and somehow we forgot to grab the bag with the parts in it for setting up two target stands. Remembered that just as we were pulling into the open-air range that's situated in a National Forest recreation area about 20 miles from the house. GW asks if we should go back for the stands, and I'm like, are you kidding me? I gotta sleep sometime today! We'll make do.

So we're getting stuff out of the Jeep and GW sees a fairly large box that could serve as a base for stapling targets onto, which we did, and walked it out 7 yards or so from the firing line. A little low, but it'll do. As I'm supervising GW loading her new gun, I see the box get blown over out of the corner of my eye. GW's like, "Shit! Why don't we just go get the stands!?" Nah, Baby Cakes, we'll make do.

I'm looking around and notice a bunch of 1 x stakes all over the place. The guy shooting a few lanes down from us suggests staking the box in the ground. He pulls out a Kershaw Leek and says he could whittle up a sharpened end for me if I wanted. I pull my vest back exposing my 2 in its new Volclae sheath and say, "Great idea, but I got a knife thanks." He says, "Holy shit! I guess you DO! Whatcha got there?" As I'm sharpening one of the stakes I say, "It's a Becker BK2. Here, take a look." I hand it to him and he asks if I care if he tries it on the other stake I was gonna sharpen. "Have at it man." A few seconds later I had my two sharp sticks and the guy kinda tags along as we go to drive 'em into the box and the ground. There was another shooter a couple of lanes down the other way from us and we waited for him to call clear as the guy tagging along, GW and I made small talk. When the shooter called clear, the three of us walked out to the box, set it up, and tag-along-guy asks if I had a rock or something to hammer the stakes with. I say nah, I think this'll work, as I take out the 2 again and start hammering with the pommel. Kinda tore up the top of the stakes, but Hell, all I needed was an inch or two into the ground just to hold 'er steady. Tag-along-guy says, "Man, what did you say that was again?" "Becker BK2....." Just as I was saying that, the shooter that had just cleared the firing line yells out, "Is that a BK2?" "Yeah man, it is." So he walks over and now the three of us are standin' around talkin' Beckerese. Firing-line-is-clear-guy owns a couple of older ones and says he's been thinking of getting a BK2, and tag-along-guy is like, wow, I don't think I've ever even heard of 'em before, but damn man, that is a fine knife right there! Finally GW says, "Are we ever going to shoot today!?" The two other guys give me a kind of "I-feel-your-pain" look and make a quick exit back to their respective lanes, and GW and I had a great morning of shooting. I'll bet two BK2's get bought within the next couple of days. At least one. I even told 'em where I got the one I was carrying, so Tom, watch for orders headed for North Alabama, they might be a referral from me!

Now I'm back at work, still carrying a gun and still talkin' Beckers. Some things never change. LOL

After taking out a 2x4 that we needed removed pronto and seeing me carry my BK2 on my hip and my BK9 in my pack everyday, my buddies started to ask about the brand. They noticed both knives had the same handles and asked if they were made by the same people (smart guys). lol. The guy I was working with when I removed the 2x4 ordered a BK9 recently and I believe I have another one might be interested in a BK2. I'm slowly trying to get everyone in my squad to be a Beckerhead! Lol. That could be our new nickname.

Also, they have an alteration shop here that will make a custom patch of any design you bring it, so I am thinking about making a Beckerhead patch with my Beckerhead number on it to put on my pack! That should catch a few more eyes!

There is a small store in my area that has a small knife section. Which sadly is what I'm limited to around here, a few places w/ very small knife sections. Thank God for the internet. Anyway back to the story. I stop by there once in a while to check and see if there is any new merchandise and sadly there wasn't. The lady working the counter asked if I wanted to see anything and I declined and mentioned I wished they had a different selection. The place has a buncha cheap folders and fixed blades and a few Ka-bar's and Ontario's... mixed in. She then said "Well I know we are gonna be doing a order here soon. Tell me what guys like you are really into"
Well I had a few suggestions but the main one was "I know you guys have a few Ka-bar's here but what you really need to look into is a Kabar but specifically the Becker Knife & Tool line. They're all great!" We talked for a bit about it and I'm hoping next time I stop in there I will have a pleasant surprise.
But besides that everytime I get a new Becker, it makes the rounds with me to be shown to anyone I think it might interest and prob some it wont but oh-well. just got the EsKabar in a few days ago and its been on me since and gotta several nice comments.
