Is there any major difference between this and the regular stuff. I didnt pay attention when i ordered it.

No, it's just that the manufacturer has thickened it already. I generally thicken the regular stuff with some of Geougons thickeners to prevent it from running.

It won't run as much when doing scales, which is nice, but also won't run as easily into hidden tang handles as well either. But as Tim said I usually thicken what I have, but I use the thickener from gFlex.

Gougeon Brothers, Inc. make West Systems and PROSET epoxies. They also make G-flex flexible epoxy. G-flex is probably best for knives because it allows a slight flex after cure which takes care of the difference in thermal expansion between steel and wood or steel and G-10.
