GI Joe

Ray,
If you're coming to Blade, you should come down to Fort Benning and check out the National Infantry Museum. Since I could almost hit it with a rock from my house, come by for dinner. There will be no warm beer though! Ice cold only!!!

Actually, that offer is open to anyone who is interested. Veteran, or not.

Ryan

Thanks for the invite. Pretty much got things planned out already. If I do it next year I'll keep this in mind. Lot depends on how this show goes for me. Every year the flight keeps going up and its going to be out of site pretty soon.

Ray that's a great picture and I'll second all the Thanks for your service to America. Though I'd have been called a hippie during your tour I never felt our soldiers were doing anything wrong. I had a problem with our gov't for sure, and I still do... Some things never change I guess.

Here's a picture of me several years later... That's Panama around me and even though we weren't issued live ammo it sure looks like I had a bad attitude. I'd slap me if I saw me today.

Yeah, I still smoke like a demon.

Ray,

Didn't see any knives in your pic! :( What's up with that??!! :D

Thanks for your service, friend (and to all the rest of you, too!)... I was only number 52 the last year of the draft; fortunately, at least for me, they stopped at 25 that year and ended the draft. As it was, my Father spent 13 months over there, a lot of it in Cu Chi... So having been raised military, I let a few of the jerks in my high school know what I thought of them when the subject of vets grew nasty...

Hey Joe, I narrowly escaped the draft too, my last number was like 45 or something. We must be the same age, which is both scary and vindicating. :D

LOL!!! Well, I just turned a half century end of last year... got another decade to go to catch up with Ray! :D

So, keep on hammerin, Dave!

Hey Joe, I don't mean to disillusion you but I'm one of those rare stock removal kinda guys. :)

And there's just no catching up with Ray. I'm living proof of that, I've been trying for years and finally just threw up my hands and said, "Okay, I'm never going to catch up with Ray. Pop another one honey. I'm gonna drown my disappointment in liquor." That didn't fly either.

Sigh.

I got drafted before the lottery was even thought of. I even burned my draft card down in TJ and they still got me. It was my old one but it sure impressed the lady's.

I went in the Marines at 17 and when when my draft lottery came. My birthay was 336 LOL. Not my first mistake and not my last. I hope that I hang around to make some more but not like that one. My brother was on a carrier in the Tonken Gulf when Jane was there and I was south of there at the time too. I remember coming home and how people acted and my brother said they dumped garbage on them when they went under the Golden Gate. At least most people have learned that none of it is the fault of the guys in uniform. Some times when I see the difference it makes me pissed all over again.

Any combat vet who shows up in Wausau WI has a free feed and drunk comin', on me. That ain't much, but my heart's in it. Thank you again, sirs.

All you non-combat vets gotta bring your own booze :D But I'll still feed ya. ;)

Dave! Ain't nuthin' wrong with grindin'! I've got several classy pieces made that way! But I think if ya talk with Ray long enough, it's just a matter of time before you try the Hammerin' way! LOL!!! :D He's make a good teacher!
