Went for a hike with Mrs Pit and her mate Karen( visiting from the UK ) yesterday.
As it was hot we walked alongside a local river......

Here is me wearing my new Tilley, a pressie from Mrs Pit !

Came across this Heal-all ( Prunella vulgaris ) which belongs to the Mint family and has been used medicinally for many years.....

Mrs Pit and Karen ventured into the water and were calling me for being scared of going in !!!!

I was just a little worried about the giant river rats but decided to face my fears.....

There was no going back now.....

And that was when I came face to face with the largest river rat I had ever seen but managed to wrestle it from the water......:D

I released it and let it swim back off down river.....

hey pit looks like a nice trip, good job on that river rat ;) they don't get half as big around here...

my swimsuit is just about the same as yours...much better than trunks in my opinion. they are better for swimming and they dry alot faster too. mine has a back pocket so i keep a small SAK in there for just in case...

They are actually a pair of my hiking underwear :obut dry faster than my swim shorts etc, so are great for spur of the moment dips !!!

I could only wear those trunks in REALLY isolated wilderness. Even then I'd slightly upset the balance of nature. It'd be like a rhino wearing a g-string.......not pretty.

LOL ! Yeah I have been thinking about something like that for the pocket, Doc !
I was thinking about maybe a few strike anywhere matches !

Hahah, that was pretty funny. Looked like a good dip, I always say this, but I wish I lived near such a great place.

Fellow forumite Lorien actually lives closer to this river than me. We called in to see him and he said he has just got a Fallkniven A1 so maybe you can call him out and get him to post some pics !
If not then I said I'd take my Chopweiler up to show him the next time I go and maybe we can have a bit of a chop-off !!!!!:D

I hear the best way to tame such a beast is to tickle its belly and give it a Meaty Bone. :D
