It was 6/11/03 when Will Fennell first announced this new knife and said that it was to be a very limited, once only, run of 500. He suggested that we get our orders in to our dealer of choice immediately. I did so, mailing my order and accompanying funds to Roger at Bayou LaFourche on 7/10/03. It is now 8/10/04 and we are still waiting for the Gibbs CUDA MAXX. I believe that Camillus owes those of us who have been waiting with more or less good humor for over a year now some explanation of the status of the production of this knife. I can be most patient when there is communication, but our posts asking for information on the knife seem to be in vain these days. Please, Camillus, let us know where the production of this knife stands.

Usually I don't get into these things but I really can understand you being miffed about this. I had a dealer over a year ago contact me to give me a pre-order price on these and it had to be pre-paid. I'm sure glad I didn't! I hate nowadays when people and especially manufacturers say "we're so busy". Aren't we all? And to not at least give updates especially when there's so much interest free money floating around with these Gibbs MM's, it's inexcusable! I'm sure Sal at Spyderco is busy as hell but he takes the time to inform his customers about product updates. When a manufacturer states "our dealers are now accepting pre-orders" for something and people pay their hard earned money up-front, it's not asking too much for an update every couple of weeks. Silence is NOT golden when it involves monies paid up-front.

During this waiting period, I have spent the Gibbs money, saved it back and spent it again. I hope that when/if it does come out, I have the money.

CamillusColClub, are you speaking for the company or from rumors on this? I have heard quite enough rumors.

Speaking for Camillus. Most parts are In-house and we are still looking at the end of September. I'll try to keep everyone updated if there are any changes.

Thanks, CamillusColClub. I hope that I do not seem unduly testy about this, but I have had my money waiting with a dealer for since I placed my order in July, 2003, and it is getting to be rather a long time.

No Doubt! (Not G. Stefani) It's half way into Sept. I am anxiously awaiting! :)

It is September 24, 2004 and I was wondering if anyone at Camillus would care to update us.

The end of September is still the date. We should start assembling Saturday or Monday and barring any brick walls, we will ship by month's end!

I am glad that I did not have the money to pre pay for one of these when they were first offered. I may not be able to get one now but to have that money tied up for that long would have made me very unhappy.

Well, for a custom smithed sword or special one-off knife, perhaps it wouldn't seem so long, but for what was supposed to be a production knife, it is getting rather long.

I agree about the wait if it was a custom something along those lines. I suppose if you wanted something from some makers a year would be getting off light. If it had been said from the start that it might be a year or so I would be cool with that also. I just think that everyone was under the impression that when they were told to get there pre orders in it was because it wouldn't be to long before the Gibb's came out.
