Gift advice for non-knife friends

Sounds like your friend needs a leatherman with all the tools in one easy to carry belt sheath. Just remind him not to carry it on an airplane.

From my experience getting stuff for non-knife knuts so far, the Micra and the SAK classic always goes down well. But for those who will use it as a tool (as opposed to say cleaning fingernails or opening mail), I would get something that locks firmly.

Had a friend who didn't like knives but loved tools. Got him an SAK that didn't lock (this was before the locking SAKs were available). He did himself a big hurt with the knife when the blade snapped in on him and that put him off for a while... right till I got him one of the locking SAKs. He loves the knife now, but he is still eyeing my LM Wave.

I have given the LM Micra to a good many non-knife friends over the last three years and everyone loved them. The blade may not be the best in the world but the other tools get them to play with them and earn to appreiciate the knife. They ten to be much more "knife friendly" then...........

I really don't think the original poster, who had mentioned knives in the $20-$25 range, is going to want to upgrade to a $70 model for his buddies.
