Gift Gold Membership For Campbellclanman - Help!

I've just tried to pay for a Gold Membership again, but note that it now says this on the site: "Due to extreme levels of international credit card fraud, orders originating from or being delivered to addresses outside North America must be pre-paid with money order or wire transfer." Does this include purchasing a membership?!

Jack, based on the text here and following, membership payments are an exception:

CREDIT CARDS ARE ACCEPTED FOR BLADEFORUMS MEMBERSHIPS THROUGH THE MANUAL SYSTEM. PLEASE IGNORE THE TEXT ABOUT NOT ACCEPTING CREDIT CARDS FROM NON-US CUSTOMERS. BladeForums.com Memberships are the exception to that rule.

Have you checked your credit card account, to see if there's any record of your transaction?

I'd be willing to go ahead and pay for Duncan's membership from here (with my good ol' 'Merican® credit card), with your payment to be prorated onto his account (for an additional year) should it ever come to be, but don't want to muddy things until your payment issues are resolved one way or the other-- I wouldn't want my payment to his account to register as "Problem Solved" if yours is still in limbo.

Many thanks for your help and for your kind offer P. I'll give it another try and see if I can secure Ducan a Gold Membership this time round.

Jack, to be clear, have you already paid again (as far as you can tell, so far)?

If so, hopefully this thread will be sufficient to alert the need for action (without starting a new one), given the unresolved nature of your prior attempt.

If not, let me know if/when I should maybe try instead.

I'm hoping to do it later this evening (here) P. I'll mention when I place the order that it's my second attempt, and place an update here. Many thanks for your help and support.

That's just your receipt. When we attempted to run your card, it declined. I'll try to run it again in the morning.

Thanks Spark. Hope it works OK today. No idea why it would be declined, it's in regular use and there's no shortage of funds.

You might want to contact your card company or bank and make sure they aren't rejecting overseas transactions thinking they are fraudulent. If it is a card you use locally and not for international transactions regularly, they make think someone stole it. My girlfriend let her son use one of hers to move from Idaho to Kansas, and the card company shut it off when they started seeing charges from out of state. She had to call them and verify it was okay.

Thanks for the tip Jack. I've not previously had a problem with overseas transactions, but if there's a problem again, I'll definitely look into it

Not all CC transactions are processed by one group. I remember years ago, I had massive problems with the Royal Bank of Scottland, I was buying some electronics direct from a manufacturer overseas and my Visa would not process. Still no idea why to this day. ;)

Some things are just a mystery. I've not had any problems before, maybe it was just my turn for some bad luck. Really hoping it all goes smoothly this time.

Failed again today. I'm going to try to adjust some settings.

:( Thanks Spark. Is there anything I can do? All the details are correct and there's no shortage of funds.

Spark,

To expedite Duncan's membership, I went ahead and paid for a gold membership for him just now, Order Number 79782.

Please upgrade campbellclanman's account accordingly. Thanks!

Jack, this is in no way meant to preempt or replace your generous gift to Duncan(!).
Once Spark resolves your payment issues, Duncan will hopefully have a two-year Gold Membership in place (the one I just paid for, and yours).

It just seemed best to make sure Duncan was up and running sooner than later, while Spark works out the kinks. I hope it works!

Thanks for all your help and support P. Hopefully, your generosity will resolve issues quicker than the alternative.

Spark, if possible, I'd still like to gift Campbellclanman a Gold membership. Is there anyway I can pay for it?

T'would be ironic if your payment clears before mine, yes? ;)

I do not yet see a record of my transaction in my credit card account (even Pending), so it looks like we're in little "danger" of either(?).

It's also little disconcerting. I guess we're not There, yet?

I PMd Spark when I made the payment, so hopefully there will be something to go on soon.

Will someone note here in this thread once Duncan is good to go, or should he keep checking?

~ P.

Really hoping that this can be sorted out soon...

Hey there guys.
First, I would like to thank Jack...that is such a wonderful thing you have done, and I want to thank you VERY much, I look forward very much to shaking your hand when we come over to the UK later this year!.

Spark...thank you for taking the time to come in here and help with everything, I have had hassles in the past , but always have gone through on my Visa .
~P, thank you for your help, I truly hope that one day I can meet you personally as well - thank you.

Looking forward to being able to shine again :-), support to the forums is important to us here in Traditionals.

I am just hoping I can show you a very small token of kindness in return for your generosity towards me Duncan. 'HOPING' being very much the operative word at the moment. Would have preferred to do this anonymously TBH or at least without a whole thread about it.

Be great to hear from you Spark. Despite Pertinux's kind intervention, I'd still like to pay for a year's Gold membership for Campbellclanman. Trying hard to support Bladeforums :)

Duncan, you're certainly welcome-- someday. (No indication yet if my own transaction "took"!)

Of course I'd love to meet you, regardless. :)

Would have preferred to do this anonymously TBH or at least without a whole thread about it.

Given the size of the membership here, I understand that manually-applied transactions (that can only be enacted by one individual) are an inconvenient exception.

All the same, I too find it uncomfortable to have to post publicly about a private, well-annotated transaction in order for it to be completed.

But, with as yet no record within my credit card account and no answer (directly or in action upon Duncan's membership account), I guess this remains the way to go?

I'm just completing the first 48 hours of the stated 72 required to wait to see a transaction applied to the account in question (Jack's 21 days invested in this matter notwithstanding).

So, having posted here (and PMd and emailed Spark ;)), hopefully this will come to conclusion soon -- at least as far as my small part. Etta James has been cued up (er, metaphorically speaking) for just such an occasion!

If not, stay tuned for the next iteration of Horton Hears A Who.
